| Bryan_Carey's Full Review: Harp Lager |
Brewed by the Harp brewery in Dundalk, Ireland, Harp lager is a very good beer with just enough body to satisfy your desire for a full- bodied product, yet light enough to keep you from feeling too full and bloated.
Harp has a golden straw color and a crisp, freshly hopped aroma. It has a malty body, emphasizing the taste of barley. The taste is dry, overall, and the finish is bitter. The hop content produces a nice, dry finish that lingers for a short time, but then quickly fades leaving almost no hint of aftertaste. Harp has an alcohol content of 4.6 percent by volume and it has about 142 calories per 12 oz serving.
There are many foods and occasions that are compatible with a glass of Harp. Because of the hop bitterness, it would go well with anything salty, like pretzels, chips, or peanuts. As for occasions, Harp would make a great accompanying beverage for just about any event, from a formal dinner to a casual sporting event. This is a versatile beer, capable of blending in with many foods or occasions.
Harp is a very good lager to offer someone who is new to the world of import and microbrewed products. It isn't too harsh or too filling and while it does have a higher than average hop content, the hops are not overwhelming at all. Offer a Harp to a friend. It easily outperforms most other lagers and it will convince your friends to give up the bland, mass produced lagers for the taste of something better- Harp.
