I really loved reading this book. I was a little behind, due to the fact that the 4th book was already out when I was reading it. But J.K. Rowling did a great job with this one. Before the 6th book, this was my favorite.
Harry was told that his godfather, Sirius Black, had told He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, where his parents lived and betrayed them so that Sirius would not be killed by you know who. He was told that Sirius would try to kill him. He was soon all alone after blowing his aunt up like a balloon, until the Night Bus picked him up. After being taken to the Leaky Caldron where he stayed until school, he was soon back at Hogwarts with his two best friends, Hermione, and Ron.
They met a new teacher, Professor Lupin, on the Hogwarts Express that saved his life from an awful dementor. His life was spared but alas he could not go to Hogsmeade with his friends because his Uncle would not sign the slip for permission. He decided to use his invisibility cloak to get there. But instead was given a map to all of Hogwarts that told him where everyone was in the castle. He saw someone who was supposed to be dead; someone who was said to be killed by Sirius Black.
Ron soon found that his Rat, Scabbers, had gone missing. But he was soon found by Hagrid. He was soon lost again and Ron chased him all the way over to the Whomping Willow Tree, where they were attacked by it. But a wild dog chased them into the tree and they found themselves in the hands of the murderous hands of Sirius Black, only to discover that there was more to the story of the deaths of Harry's parents.
This book is mysterious, never boring, and fun for families to read together. You will love the characters and love J.K. Rowling for her amazing ideas. She is truly an amazing writer.
This book may also encourage your family to read more. I didn't read a lot before this series and I am more interested in books now. It will also challenge you to think about the next chapters and will make you want to read the next book to find out about Harrys fate, and what might be in store for him. My family loves to talk about this book and share theories about the magic and relationships between the characters.
There is so much to this book and I hope that you can tell why I loved reading it. It isn't meant for very young children, but I'm sure that a lot of them would love to read about the magic and mystery.
My whole family read this book, and we still think that this series is the best we have ever read. If you have never read the book, I hope that this will encourage you to read it. It meant for all ages that can get into it.
I hope that if you do decide to read it that you will love it just as I did.
