Pros:comes with diorama and lots in uniform, good price
Cons:could have chosen a better background for the diorama
The Bottom Line: yes, especially if you're a collector or historical buff
This GI Joe action figure hails from the Millennium Series collection, and it honors the privates that served in the Korean War (particularly 7th Infantry Division). Besides his uniform and equipment, the Joe comes with a certificate of authenticity and a diorama. The diorama is of part of a medical tent in the snow; it's adequate looking, but Hasbro could have chosen a more action packed background/scenario.
The Korean War was fought in cold, gritty place, and you can tell by looking at this figure. He is unshaven, and is outfitted for the cold. His field uniform is detailed with the 7th INF DIV insignia on his right shoulder and he wears an army t-shirt underneath; however, there is no indication of rank on his uniform (you can only tell he is a PFC by reading the certificate). For the cold, he was a scarf, an M1951 pile field hat, a parka, parka pants, a pair of heavy gloves, "mickey mouse" type boots, and a helmet. The boots and helmet have a "frosted over" finish, indicating that this particular PFC has been standing in the snow for some time.
He comes with an M14 carbine rifle (with strap), and an extra clip of ammo. Sorry, you cannot load that clip into the rifle. Since it comes with a diorama, this Joe intended for displaying, though not from the box (it comes in a white shipping box). However, you're kids may enjoy playing with this figure. For the money (only $10 at kbtoys.com), this Joe comes with plenty to keep both of you entertained.
