| tiffer0220's Full Review: Hasbro Jenga Extreme Game |
Ok, so who hasn't heard of Jenga? You know, it's that annoying game made out of wood where the object is to remove the pieces of wood without making your Jenga tower topple over.... Well Hasbro just couldn't leave well enough alone, and they decided to make jenga Xtreme. Now we're playing with the darn leaning tower of Pisa....This game is not meant for those who are patiently challenged.
Jenga Xtreme
With this game, you have 54 pieces of multi-colored blocks. These aren't your typical straight square blocks. These blocks are designed with an angle on 2 sides. The blocks are all made of wood and are natural, green and black in color. It comes with a pretty durable case that holds your blocks. One might be fooled and think they can use the case to make your Jenga tower, but it doesn't work. You will have to make your tower by hand, block by block, before you can play.
The blocks all go 3 in a row, 18 rows high. You have to be careful when you assemble your blocks together, they each have to fit a certain way. If you fail to do this, your game will be doomed right from the get-go.
Once you achieved maximum height, the game can begin. The object is to remove a block from the game and place it on top of the other blocks without tipping the tower over. It sounds easy, but for those without patience or with shaky hands, you might as well forget it. All while taking a block out, the tower can shift directions.
Another cool thing with Jenga Xtreme, is that the instructions give you 3 different ways to set up the blocks. You have your basic set up where the blocks are straight up and down, you have an extreme version where the blocks are leaning to one side before the game begins and then there is the most extreme version where the blocks lean one way and then half way up the blocks shift and the upper part is leaning inthe opposite direction.
This can be played with 2 or more players. My son likes to practice with it by himself so he can beat his friends at it. The only flaw is that you cannot play as long when compared to the original Jenga. Usually the tower collapses after a few turns.
I would recommend this game for older kids and adults. Little ones will probably enjoy using the blocks to build different things, but they will not enjoy playing this game.
