wendy7734's Full Review: Hasbro My Little Pony Favorite Friends Pinkie Pie ...
Ever since I was a little girl, I have found My Little Pony to be cute and entertaining. Now that I have a daughter, I can't wait to introduce her to Ponyville and all of the little ponies. As my daughter is about a year and a half, I have to be watchful of any of the My Little Pony products as they are usually attended for children three years and older.
While I was at the store, I found Pinkie Pie Pony and thought it would be a great start. I purchased the standard Pinkie Pie Pony instead of any of the specialty or event specific versions as it did not include any of the small accessories such as balloons, brushes, or hair clips. I did notice that all of the ponies are smaller and have a leaner physique than when they first came out years ago.
My Little Pony Pinkie Pie stands about four inches tall and is made of a firm rubber material. The pony is in a shade of pink that is similar to the color of cotton candy. The mane and tail of the pony are made of thin hair like nylon strips in a darker pinker and shiny cellophane material. The main and tail do rat up easily but do not come out of the pony when pulled on. Pinkie Pie's head turns 360 degrees and has ears, a mouth, and a nose built into the mold of the body. The pony's stance is standing up with the left front leg slightly in front of the right. The eyes of the pony are done in a sky and dark blue with a very small heart in the middle. On Pinkie Pie's right hind quarter, her name is written vertically beginning in the hoof area. The name is written in yellow and surrounded in blue. There are a total of four balloons done in lavender and yellow at the beginning and end of her name. On the bottom of one of her legs, there is a small hole which allows her to be used on the many different accessories that are available for the My Little Pony series.
My daughter loved her first pony! She was entranced by the mane and tail and was running her fingers along them. According to my daughter, Pinkie Pie is a "doggy" instead of a pony. My daughter wanted to bring her in the tub with her and give her a bath too. Some of the water does make its way into the pony although it appears most of it drains out. The only thing I do not like about the My Little Pony is that the mane and tail get ratted relatively easy, although it has not tangled. After getting it wet, it helps straighten the nylon strips but it has not returned to its brand new state. My daughter does not seem to mind this though. As my memory recalls, this was the case with the ponies that I had when I was a little girl.
This pony is intended for children three years and older but we feel safe letting my daughter play with Pinkie Pie. The only concern I had was that she would chew on the mane and tail and break pieces off but has not shown any interest in putting it in her mouth. We are still exercising caution and let her play with her under our supervision. Her favorite spot to play with the pony is in the bath tub so it is never an issue.
We have had the pony for a few weeks now and it has held up for many baths, falls, teething experiences, and hugs.
There are many books about the adventures in Ponyville that Pinkie Pie is featured in so it adds a nice addition to the story as you can make one of the characters come to life. I look forward to adding to my daughter's collection. I just hope she likes them as much as I do.
