dustinnikki's Full Review: Playskool® Mr. Potato Head®/ Mrs....
Our kids have had this Mrs. Potato Head for a long time now. I have no idea when they got it or where I bought it. I do remember seeing it at many stores such as Wal-Mart for around $5 to $6. Our son is the one that plays with this toy the most now along with all his other Mr. Potato Head collection. He is 3 years old and loves it. Our daughter is now 8 years old and she doesn't normally play with Mrs. Potato Head or any others that we have unless she is playing with her brother. Mrs. Potato Head is a great addition to any Mr. Potato Head collection. This one also comes with plenty of parts and accessories!
Description
Mrs. Potato Head's body is a regular size spud. It's about 5 inches tall with holes to place arms, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, feet and hats. Some spuds are equipped with a storage compartment in the back of them and I am pretty sure that this Mrs. Potato Head does. I remember this being the only one that my daughter had before our collection grew and I remember her stuffing parts in there. As I have stated above, there are quite a few parts and pieces that are included with this Mrs. Potato Head and they are:
A pair of white arms, a pair of eyes with lashes and purple eye shadow, a big pink nose, a pair of red lips, a pair of pink ears, a pair of green shoes that look like tennis shoes, a yellow floppy hat, a pair of green glasses, a red hand bag, and a pair of round earrings. I can't remember if the earrings were actually yellow or if they were orange because our kids have a pair of each color of the same earrings with all the other Potato Head parts they have. I do know that a pair is included though. There is also a little plastic daisy with white petal and a yellow center that Mrs. Potato Head can wear on her arm.
Performance/Opinion Our kids love playing with Mrs. Potato Head especially when they get out all of our son's Mr. Potato Head stuff. I think it's great that they have something they can play with together. Mr. Potato Head needs a companion so who better than Mrs. PotatoHead? She's almost a must and she comes with plenty of parts! All the pieces are made of plastic and they are easy to fit into the holes on the spud. What's so great is that the parts and pieces don't have to go where they are supposed to either. The parts can be placed anywhere for some really crazy looking spuds! These parts also work great with any other spud and you can also use any other parts on this one. It's a lot of fun to mix and match!
I think Mrs. Potato Head and other Mr. Potato Head toys are really great for young ones. It teaches creative and imaginative play. Our kids will even role play with each other. Our daughter has been doing this for quite some time now but our 3 year old is really getting into that kind of play now. They will both play together for hours. I will say our daughter seems to be a little old for them since she has no interest in playing with this toy or any others unless her brother gets them out. The age recommendations are for ages 2 years and older. I do agree with this and there aren't any really small pieces. The earrings and the little flower accessory are about an inch in diameter and in my opinion, they wouldn't be something that's easy to swallow. All the pieces are easy to put on Mrs. Potato Head's body and they are easy for kids as young as 2 to play with. Both of our kids have been playing with these toys since about that age.
Everything will fit into Mrs. Potato Head's storage compartment except for the shoes. The arms and the glasses fit in but they have to be angled a certain way to get them to fit. The hat is a flimsy hat so it can be folded in there pretty easily. I don't worry much about this though because I keep Mrs. Potato Head and all the other Potato Head stuff our kids have in one storage container anyway. Mrs. Potato Head's glasses just sit on her face but will only sit there the right way if she has ears, eyes and a nose. Especially the ears and nose because they just sit there. The earrings fit on the bottom of the ears just fine. They have a little gap and they just snap on the bottom of her ears and hang there. The little daisy also just snaps onto one of her arms. The handbag does nothing but hangs on one of her arms if you hang it there. All the pieces stay on really well except the glasses may fall off quite a few times during play. Other than that, this toy is great! Mrs. Potato Head and all her parts and pieces are also really durable and she has lasted quite a long time. She has had a pretty long play-life and still going. She's also a great toy to hang onto and pass down from child to child. Highly recommended!
