Sorry Card Revenge is recommended for children six and older and requires two to four players to play. Sorry Card Revenge is made by Hasbro. The object of the game to be the first to move all your sorry pawns home by playing all the cards in your hand.
Sorry Card Revenge comes with a big red pawn with blue storage base, 113 cards, 16 sorry pawns and 4 home boards. The cards are numbered cards 1 -12 and have three special type cards. These cards are slide cards, safety zone cards and sorry cards. There are four of each colored pawns. The pawns come in red, blue, yellow and green. There is a red, blue, green and yellow home board.
Before playing for the first time, remove all the parts from the storage base. Slide the demo/on/off switch on the bottom of the big red pawn from demo to off. The game comes with batteries but if you need to replace them, the battery compartment is on the bottle of the big red pawn. 3 AAA batteries are required.
Place the big red pawn in the center of the laying area. Take a home board and four sorry pawns of the same color. Remove the four quick rule cards from the deck and shuffle the cards. Deal five cards facedown to each player. Make a draw pile out of the remaining deck. Turn the top card face up and place it beside the desk to start a discard pile.
Turn the big red pawn on. The pawn will introduce the game and tell you to tap its noggin when you are ready to play. When you tap the top of the pawn, it will tell you what player goes first.
Each player on their turn will play one or more of their cards on the top card of the discard pile. If you can’t play a card, tap the top of the red pawn and do whatever it says. Be prepared as the big red pawn is not nice or polite.
There are three ways to play a card. You can play one card of a matching color. So if there is a blue seven you can play any blue card on this card. You can also play one or more cards in a numerical sequence. These cards can be of any color and they must go in ascending order. So if the 2 is on the discard pile, you can play any color three, four, five, etc. When you are done playing a sequence your turn is done. Or you can play any wild card. You can play wild cards on any card. After playing a wild card, you can play other cards if appropriate.
There are slide cards in the deck. These cards allow you to place all your cards of one color on the pile. You can play a slide card of any color on top of any card but right after playing it you must play at least one numbered card of a matching color on top of it. So if there is a red 4 on the pile, you can play any color slide card. If you lay a green slide card, you can then lay your green 7 or as many green numbered cards as you have.
There are safety zone cards. You can play a safety zone card on any card just to get rid of it. After you play it, your turn is over. Any card can be placed on top of a safety zone card.
You can play a sorry card on top of any card. After you lay the sorry card, pick another player to touch the top of the red pawn and they must do as the red pawn says. Any card can be played on top of a sorry card.
If your last card played is a number two, you get to take another turn. If the last card you played is a four or a ten, you must reverse the direction of play. If the last card you play is an eleven, you may trade your hand with any other player.
When you cannot play a card, you must tap the top of the big red pawn. The pawn will tell you different things to do. It may tell you to pick four cards, or play any card, or it might have everyone pick a card. Listen carefully and do as the pawn says.
If the draw pile runs out during play, shuffle the discard pile except the top card and make this the new draw pile.
When you play the last card in your hand, you get to move one of your sorry pawns home. After you do this, take five more cards from the draw pile and continue playing.
The player that moves all their sorry pawns home is the winner.
When you are done playing, switch the game to off. Place the card deck and sorry pawns in the storage base and the home boards on top and twist the pawn into the base.
Sorry Card Revenge is different and fun to play. It promotes number recognition, sequencing, color recognition, matching and taking turns.
I purchased Sorry Card Revenge at Wal-Mart on sale for around $15.00. I have not looked recently for it to see if they still sell it.
Sorry Card Revenge can take a while to play. The red pawn makes Sorry Card Revenge more interesting than other forms of Sorry. The red pawn can get annoying at times as it rarely has anything nice to say.
One thing that would be nice is if Sorry Card Revenge would have an automatic shut off. My children at times will forget to turn the game off.
I like that Sorry Card Revenge is self contained. Because of the shape of the pawn, it is more difficult to store then a flat box but it is defiantly different from other Sorry games.
Sorry Card Revenge would make a great gift for a child or a family member that enjoys playing games.
Our family always enjoyed playing Sorry and Sorry Card Revenge is no exception. If you are looking for a fun different Sorry game, we recommend Hasbro Sorry Card Revenge. Just don’t be offended by the big red pawn.
