Pros: Way cool concept
Cons: Runs out of web in about 5 minutes. Makes a mess.
My son, 9, is obsessed with Spider Man. Obssessed. His comforter is Spider Man. He has Spider Man socks. His room is being redecorated in Spider Man colors. He has been Spider Man for Halloween 3 years in a row. The first year was the regular Spider Man costume. The second year was the regular Spider Man muscle suit. Next came the black Spider Man. If they have a black Spider Man muscle suit, Im pretty sure well be forking out for that this year. All this is to say, if anyone, anywhere, was predisposed to like - no, love - this toy, its my son.
The Spider Man Deluxe Spinning Web blaster is basically a plastic toy gun that straps onto your wrist. You insert the can of web (aka silly string) into the web blaster, pull the trigger, and you shoot webs, just like Spidey.
First, the plusses. It is an incredibly cool concept, to be able to shoot webs off your wrist just like your hero. Running after your sister and shooting stuff on her while she screams and wants you to stop is nothing but fun.
Now the minus side. You will waste about ? the can of web trying to get this to work right, and it will still only shoot web about 2-3 feet. So while you do get to shoot webs, it doesnt exactly blast out. Also, this is a toy that requires a constant influx of cash to keep it fun. When the can is empty, the toy is useless. Basically, for your $12 investment, you can count on about 3 minutes of fun. And about 20 of picking little bits of silly string out of your hair, off the yard, the dog ..you get the picture. DONT blast it is the house. Because the string is damp, it doesnt sweep up well. Replacement web is available (of course) but will run you $1-$2 per can.
My verdict? This is a cheap plastic toy that only barely delivers what it promises, and then its done. My sons verdict? Pretty much the same. He says it was awesome, but since its out of string its sucky. That about says it all.
