I had to run an errand today, and when I do that these days I try to go someplace with a good selection of Star Wars figures. I am glad I did because I came away with 5 figures I had never seen before. The one I am reviewing right now is the Clone Commander. Based on first impression, he is my favorite figure so far. Even though he is only a clone, you know he figures big in the movie. Plus, you need someone to be in charge of the multiple Clone Troopers you probably bought.

Clone Commander is figure number 33 and part of collection number 1 in the Revenge of the Sith series. Despite the fact that I think he is the coolest looking figure yet, I am choosing to leave Clone Commander safely in his package. This figure is not recommended for children under the age of four because the small pieces can be a choking hazard.

The text in this paragraph will be common throughout all of my reviews of Star Wars Episode III basic characters. As far as the durability of these figures, well I don't open them. But I did open some from Episode I and I can tell you from past experience that the small weapons and accessories will get lost. As a boy I tried so hard to keep track of them and just failed. Slowly but surely the guns and lightsabers disappeared. By and large the figures are durable. The heads can be popped off by abuse or a determined push, and the hands can be chewed until they no longer function. That is my best guess as to how well this series will hold up.


Clone Commander, like all the clones is a modified copy of the bounty hunter Jango Fett. I am not sure what makes one clone a commander and the others troopers, but he has very cool armor and gear. Clone Commander stand 3.75 inches tall like many figures in this series. I spoke of his cool armor, well it looks very close to a Storm trooper's, with a little Snow Trooper thrown in. The helmet looks very close to a Storm Troopers, except for the fact that it has a red stripe running from the chin to up over the head. In addition to the red accent, Clone Commander's helmet has a visor that can flip up onto the helmet or down over his eyes. The armor in general is similar to a Clone Troopers, but the red accent differentiates it by appearing in the chest, forearms, legs, belt, shoulder, and helmet. Clone Commander also has a black chest piece and a red piece of shoulder armor. The part that I think resembles the Snow Trooper is the waste cape, held up by the belt. Clone Commander is loaded to the teeth with weapons too. To start off with, he has a rifle. Nothing to exciting there, but he also has a pistols that holsters into his waste cape. Clone Commander also has some sort of clamps attached to string and a handle..... (that is me trailing off). I can't figure those out but he has tons of gear. Unlike every figure I have reviewed so far, Clone Commander does not have an action move or a terrain base. I think the battle gear is supposed to be the bonus on this figure. Clone Commander has joints at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, neck, and knees. The figure very closely resembles the pictures on the package but I don't think that is so special on the robots or helmeted figures.

I believe there were Clone Commanders at the battle of Geonosis, but they haven't played a huge role so far. Since the next movie is set in a war, I guess they get more screen time. The package gives a brief description of Clone Commander as well ....

An elite officer in the clone army, the clone commander leads a squad of clone troopers into battle against the Separatist forces. He wears special armor similar to that worn by ARC troopers.

I wish I knew what ARC troopers were. I am guessing it is a figure they want me to buy.

Based on the fact that this guy is super cool, he gets my highest recommendation. If you are a collector, well I have had a hard time finding him so get him if you see him get him. If he is intended for playing with I still recommend him based on the fact that he plays a big role in the movie, and leads the clone troopers you already have, and is sweet.
