| some_guy5's Full Review: Hasbro Star Wars Episode III Clone Pilot Action Fi... |
Along with Royal Guard, Clone Pilot is one of the crown jewels of my Revenge of the Sith collection. Maybe you are wondering why my favorite guys are the generic no names. There are only two reasons. One is that I think they look cool. The other is that they are hard to find. I have been to both Target and Wal-Mart in search of figures. Both of these places had about 1000 figures on display. Target had one Royal Guard. Wal-Mart had one Clone Pilot. Yay.
Clone Pilot is figure number 34 and a member of the collection number 1 in the Revenge of the Sith series. I leave all of my figures in the packages but since Clone Pilot is such a score I am going to extra leave him in the package. (I know it doesn't make sense) These figures are not recommended for children under the age of four because the small pieces can be a choking hazard. As far as the durability of these figures, well I don't open them. But I did open some from Episode I and I can tell you from past experience that the small weapons and accessories will get lost. As a boy I tried so hard to keep track of them and just failed. Slowly but surely the guns and lightsabers disappeared. By and large the figures are durable. The heads can be popped off by abuse or a determined push, and the hands can be chewed until they no longer function. That is my best guess as to how well this series will hold up.
Like most of the basic figures (not Yoda or R2-D2 etc.) Clone Pilot stands 3.75 inches tall. In this figure you can see them transitioning to the troopers from the Empire that we are familiar with in Episodes IV - VI. Clone Pilot wears a white helmet. This helmet resembles those of the AT-AT drivers and the black helmets of the Tie Fighter pilots. The difference is that the face is not covered and the eyes are only covered by a yellow shaded visor. The helmet has air tubes (I assume they are for air) extending down into the chest pack. Clone Pilot wears a gray jumpsuit made of molded plastic. He accessorizes his jumpsuit with the aforementioned white helmet, white gloves, white boots, and a white utility vest of some sort. Clone Pilot has joints at the shoulders, elbows, waste, hips, and knees. Clone Pilot does not have a special action move but he does come with a large cannon that actually fires a plastic "laser bolt." The details on Clone Pilot's face are mixed. The nose and mouth might actually look like Jango Fett's (the person he was cloned after) but the skin complexion is all wrong. Jango, and the Clone Pilot in the photo on the box for that matter, have dark complexions. This pilot is as fare as they come. It is almost like they have a jar labeled "flesh color" for all the human and human like characters. In addition to the cannon, Clone Pilot comes with a blaster and some other kind of tool I can't identify.
Clone Troopers have made their big debut in Attack of the Clones but we have yet to see their variations. It makes sense, you have to train them to do different things and you may as well give them uniforms and equipment specific to their tasks. We have yet to see what Clone Pilots can do but according to the box .....
Clone trooper pilots are specially trained for the skills needed to fly attack and troop ships. As part of the Grand Army of the Republic, the clone pilots engage the Separatist forces across the galaxy.
I am anxious to see what all these Jangos can do.
Clone pilots represent one of a multitude of identical characters in Revenge of the Sith. They will probably play a big role in the movie. I also think this figure looks cool and I know that, for now at least, he is hard to find. If you see him, I recommend you buy him.
