| captainchew's Full Review: Hasbro Toy Star Wars "The Empire Strikes Back" Col... |
I remember the first time I saw StarWars, The Empire strikes......only joking ( Like you actually care ).
Does anybody remember the "Power Of The Force" action figures released by kenner in 1995, where Luke and the gang had huge shoulders and looked a doughnut away from being Mr universe? Well these are made by Hasbro, and are closer to the characters from the movie, rather than those steroid taking muscle heads.
This is a scene is taken from The Empire Strikes Back, the best of the six in the saga, Where Jedi Luke Skywalker has been landed a deadly blow, from Vader's Saber (which served him right for not listening to Obi wan), Vader then reveals his true identity to Luke, his son), and reaches out and tries to per sway Luke to join him. Classic Moment.
(Did I mention that Bespin Luke, with removable hand is available to complete the scene).
The scenery piece which comes with Vader is a nice idea, but quite small and pointless, if it fixed onto maybe a play set or connected with Bespin Luke ( which it doesn't) then it could be fully appreciated, But it doesn't matter, The Darth Vader figure makes up for it. The Vader Figures are getting better every time a new one is bought out, and this looks detailed, and in proportion ( Shiny finish, not a dull black, like the older version).
There is a button on Vader's back that pivots the waist and enables him to swoop his lightsaber though the cold metal support Luke dearly clings on to, which is what action figures are all about, the action.
The cloak you lift up to access Vader's back, can be removed, but he looks kind of naked without it, not that you'd want to, this cape looks in motion, with creases and waves as it flaps in the whistling winds under cloud city.
Hasbro are keen on using magnets with the new line of figures released for episode 2, to simulate force pull, and in this case there's one on Vader's outstretched hand, that summons his saber to him, if they should become parted, which is most appreciated.
Its the best version I've seen so far, and looks straight out of the movie. Doesn't matter if you collect star wars, or tear off the packaging and begin saving the galaxy, Your going to want a Darth Vader.
woosh!
