My 19-month-old son Bug has been in a huge "me-too" phase with his older brother ever since he was about a year old. Since Buster loves Buzz Lightyear, Bug loves him too, and has been caught stealing his older brother's plush Buzz Lightyear on one too many occasions. I added a plush Buzz Lightyear to his Christmas wish list in hopes that Bug would get the same Applause stuffed Buzz that his brother has, but we had no such luck finding one. Instead, Bug got a slightly smaller version, the Hasbro Toy Story and Beyond Buzz Lightyear Plush Toy.
::: To Infinity... and to Bed! :::
The Hasbro Toy Story and Beyond Buzz Lightyear Plush Toy is a stuffed version of the popular Buzz Lightyear character that's perfect for sleeping with. Measuring approximately 13 inches tall, Buzz is made of 100% polyester with the exception of his head and helmet, which are hard plastic. Hasbro Toy Story and Beyond Buzz Lightyear Plush Toy has his familiar top-heavy shape, with legs I can only describe as "dangly" so he sits very easily, but cannot be propped up in a stand.
His uniform insignia are all the familiar buttons and lasers, and are a combination of sewn-in color changes and screen-printed designs. Hasbro Toy Story and Beyond Buzz Lightyear Plush Toy's head is enormous due to the fact that it's encased in a non-opening helmet with a very wide circumference, and the base of the helmet/head combination is easily felt around his shoulders.
::: Lullaby and a Laser :::
Bug couldn't have been more thrilled with his Hasbro Toy Story and Beyond Buzz Lightyear Plush Toy, and even though it definitely looks different than his brother's larger figure, he still feels like he has a "Big Buzz" to sleep with. So far, the Hasbro Toy Story and Beyond Buzz Lightyear Plush Toy hasn't picked up much dirt, but I have my doubts about the "surface washable" directions, as my older son's figure looks like Buzz has been rolling around in a mud puddle with pigs and surface washing hasn't done a THING to get it clean.
I'm lucky in that my kids have all understood that "luveys" that they sleep with are NOT allowed out of the house, so Hasbro Toy Story and Beyond Buzz Lightyear Plush Toy spends the majority of the time in Bug's crib. The clear plastic helmet shows a few dings, but I'm sure that's nothing compared to what would happen if I let him lug Big Buzz around with him.
The sheer size of the plastic needed for the helmet and head combo leaves the Hasbro Toy Story and Beyond Buzz Lightyear Plush Toy with a not-so-cuddly feeling, which isn't ideal for a sleep companion, but Bug doesn't seem to mind. As long as he's happy with his Buzz sleeping buddy, so am I, and now I'm on the lookout for another one just in case this one gets lost or ruined.
