Hasbro Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet
Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto, domo...domo
Have you seen the movie Fun with Dick and Jane? Remember the scene that they are dressed in black from head to toe, can only see their mouths from under their disguise where they have the really rich man tied up? Have that memory going through your head now? Recall when Dick is singing Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto, domo...domo with the voice changer whilst pressing imaginary buttons on the rich mans chest? If you can recall that enough to practically hear that song in your head, then you have the exact sound that comes from Hasbros Optimus Prime Voice Changer Helmet. Pretty Sweet, right? Thats not all the Helmet does though
.
****Product Features****
1) Five battle phrases are spoken from the helmet at the simple press of a button. Phrases are; Megatron is in my sights. Autobots, transform and roll out. I am Optimus Prime! We must protect the Allspark cube. The Decepticons must be stopped.
2) Press a different button and hear the autobot transformation take place. Press that same button again the transformation is in reverse.
3) Press a different button and speak into the helmet and youll hear your voice transformed into Optimus Primes voice.
4) There is an adjustment strap on the back of the helmet (which is open like a mask) that allows you to fit the helmet comfortably on your head. The age range is for 5 to 12 years, but even at my age I think its a blast. It fits my head as well as my husbands head. However, it was bought for my eight year old on his birthday and its quite huge for him.
5) With the large eye area on the front of the helmet you can easily see through the semi-dark tinted plastic lenses. They are very easy to scratch though so keep that in mind when you catch your child throwing it around after playing with it.
6) Battery requirement is 3 AA that come with the helmet.
The voice changer measures 11 x 10 and comes in the colors blue and gray, with a little touch of gold beside each eye. It is rather large and heavy (especially for a 5 year old to be wearing on his/her head) but its not too heavy for your child. Its extremely bulky, but thats the general idea, isnt it? To be Optimus prime you gotta go big.
Breathing through the helmet is much easier than breathing through those little Halloween masks that we use to wear as little kids. (Remember those?)
Comfortability is about a 7. It is not padded on the inside, so if your little one decides to go into combat with his older brother, a make-believe Decepticon, then he needs to be fore warned that its not going to soften any blows.
The adjustable plastic strap is so easy to use that a one armed bandit, cash in hand and on the run could easily remove it. Very nice feature considering most little ones dont have the patience to fiddle around with those nylon straps like the ones on their bike helmets.
Durability is a 9. Id give it a 10 but the ability to see clearly diminishes over time because the eye areas are so easily scratched. But the helmet has held up really well this past year and the plastic strap has been more reliable than I had anticipated.
Although my son is really into Transformers, he only kinda likes the helmet. He wears it so very seldom (the rest of the family plays with it more than him) that spending $49.00 on it as his birthday present just was not worth it. When I asked, he admitted that he would have rather had a different toy. So although it is recommended for the young age of 5 that does not mean all ages will appreciate the uniqueness of the Autobots helmet.
