Barret82's Full Review: You Don't Know Jack Vol. 4 - The Ride for Windows,...
Over a long period of time, I would struggled to find something to do when I had multiple friends over to pass some time. It was earlier that I discovered a game which was called You Don't Know Jack through one of my good friends. Aparently, it was some stupid trivia game, god knows they were all bad.
Simply bored, I went to his house and we tried it out... and were both greatly amused by its witty comments and crazy questions. I instantly fell in love with it and borrowed it from him (*looks away shyly* And still have yet to returned to him) and it would be first priority whenever I had some company.
It grew on me and when I read in a magazine about another Jack game that was unlike all the others (YDKJ, YDKJ Sports, YDKJ Movies, etc...) called You Don't Know Jack: The Ride, I knew I must have it!
When I purchased it I played it one player as no one was around... something I thought was horribly boring in the first one, however incredibly amusing in The Ride
There are a total of 5 hosts, most of which are new to the game. They are witty, quick talking, comic hosts that you could swear that they interact with you sitting in front of you. If you choose one kind of question, or a point value, they'll mock you or commend you or whatnot, the list goes on.
The plot to it (Yes, there's a plot! Well, sorta...) is that you're really just on a little-bit-out-of-the-ordinary elevator ride to the bottom, stopping on floors with different categories for the upcoming thirteen questions. It is often called the clash of pop culture and high culture as not only does it take wits, a sense of humor and deranged modes of thought, it also takes a lot of brain power to actually know what they're talking about... Not that it's a game for only the smartest of people. Anybody could play and have the time of their life
There are a number of step ups of games that I just love to play and look forward to them all whenever I start a game with friends. There is now Roadkill (A Jack Attack similarity only with a slight twist and you need a good memory for the bonus question), Bingo (Although it's always a different word than bingo, in which you state the answer to a question using the first letter of part of the word), Dis or Dats (In which one player will state that the given thing is one thing, another thing or sometimes both) and of course the traditional Gibberish Questions and Jack Attack. There is also a Fill In The Blank (Which I can never get right *growls*) in which you merely must type in the answer as opposed to choosing it multiple choice style.
With so much to do and thirteen questions to do it in with a maximum of three players, how could you NOT have fun playing it? It's full of laughs, brains and sometimes some friendly tension between you and your neighbors... Especially when you screw them Flapjack style by shooting screws into the screen so they can't read the question and answers, then FORCING them to answer it.
All in all, what else is there to say except that you should all ready be on your way to buy this if you want to have a great time with your friends!
