Happy 4th of July everyone!! Today marks the first day of the upcoming four day holiday weekend, so please have a safe and memorial Independence Day. One way to stay safe in the sun during all the outdoor holiday activities is to remember that sunscreen! Even though the product I am about to review would not be the best choice for all day protection, especially for fair-skinned persons, it will provide some sunburn protection for dark sun-worshippers during this sun filled day. While preparing for our trip to Daytona Beach, Florida last month, I picked up a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Lotion with Sunscreen SPF 4 along with other more protective choices. Since I do like to tan even though I fully realize the damaging long term results, I wanted a suncare product that allowed me to tan while protecting me from the burning rays of the sun as well. This lotion sounded like the perfect choice for my vacation sunbathing needs.

This exclusive time released vitamin complex (Vitamins A, C, & E) helps to maintain the skin's natural nutrient balance and prevent photoaging. This moisturizing blend of fruit and nut extracts is designed for use by those with a base tan already who are in search of a deep, dark tan. My bottle says 35% more free on the front, so I'm guessing the regular sized bottles contain no more than 8 ounces of this lotion for the same price. Hawaiian Tropic and LOTION are both attractively highlighted in gold lettering across the front, and a large "4" can be clearly seen so consumers can easily see just how much SPF factor they are getting when purchasing this sun care product. The lid is the classic "flip-top" variety so this tanning lotion is fairly easy to retrieve from the bottle for application with the hands. And this waterproof formula itself is somewhat thick in consistency and is white in color. Simple to apply and designed for those with a base tan already who rarely burn, this Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Lotion with Sunscreen SPF 4 moisturizes the skin with its exotic blend of natural ingredients while offering a small amount of UVA and UVB protection during sunbathing in the process.

According to the packaging directions found on the bottle of Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Lotion with Sunscreen SPF 4: Apply generously and evenly before sun exposure. Reapply occasionally and after prolonged swimming, excessive perspiration, or toweling. Liberally apply this coconut scented tanning lotion to all exposed body parts, paying special attention to the shoulders, chest, back, arms, and legs. If you have oily skin like I do, I'd suggest using another special formula designed just for the face to prevent breakouts and use this one for the body only. Applied about 30 minutes before sun exposure to give it time to absorb fully into my skin, I usually only had to reapply this waterproof formula once or twice during our sun filled lazy days spent lying on the beach to prevent burning while tanning in the process. My skin stayed moisturized and somewhat protected from the harmful UVA and UVB sun rays while using this Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Lotion with Sunscreen SPF 4 during our week long vacation. And best of all, I did not burn like usual with no ugly peeling that usually results from a sunburn a week or so later.
