| chocolatiada's Full Review: Hawthorne Suites Conyers GA |
There is an extended stay hotel in Conyers, GA. For all of you who have never heard of Conyers, its okay. For years, I never knew it existed. It is about 30 minutes east of Atlanta. To its own credit, it is a medium size town. But in comparison to Atlanta, it is a little small. The good thing about Conyers is that the hotels are not high priced as in Atlanta. Staying at the Hawthorne Suites was not my idea. My friend suggested it. Then I looked on the Internet to see what it looked like. Since I never heard of Hawthorne Suites, I wanted to check it out. I have been burned before. Someone gave me a name of a hotel, and when I got there, I was in the middle of crack town. From the picture on their website, the hotel looked good. And the fact that it was called a "golf resort" piqued my interest. Not that I was going to play golf, but I was sure that there are certain standards for hotels that label themselves "resorts". Plus Hawthorne Suites is a part of the Wyndham hotel chain. I have stay at some of their hotels before and had very pleasant experiences. When I was on my way to this hotel, I was sure that I got lost. The hotel was about 10 miles from the exit off of the interstate. Once I found the resort, I walked in the elegantly decorated lobby. Check in was a breeze. Since I already made my reservation, the front desk clerk had my keys and paperwork ready for when I arrived. After checking in, I went to my room. It looked like an apartment. There was a kitchenette complete with stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, and dining table. The living room area was furnished with a sofa, end tables, lamps, coffee table, desk, and TV in cabinet. The door that led to the bedroom effectively separated it and the bedroom from the public areas (like in real apartment). My room also had a balcony with chairs overlooking the pool. I felt like I did not bring enough stuff. I wanted to move in, but I was just staying the night. However, I did have my laptop and cheerfully enjoyed surfing the free wireless internet all night long. In the morning, the complimentary breakfast was served until 9. They had eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, bagels, cream cheese, coffee, tea, and juice. The breakfast did not really meet my expectations. The orange juice did not taste like it was 100%. I do not like sausage. The only jam they had was grape and I do not like that either. I ended up eating half a bagel with cream cheese. The coffee was good. The next time, I think that I will stop at McDonalds for breakfast instead.
