Better Than A Prescription

Pros: Extremely effective on flakes, itchy scalp. Better smelling than prescriptions or coal tar. Cheap.
Cons: Doesn't fully cure dandruff, but tricks you into thinking it has!
The Bottom Line: It's a dandruff shampoo that doesn't smell, cost, feel like one. And it's the best damned dandruff shampoo I've used.

As I sit here writing this review I'm itching and scratching my scalp like crazy.
I ran out of Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment shampoo two weeks ago. I'm a lazy fool who thought he could get away with regular shampoo.
Over the years I've tried a number of dandruff shampoos. Tried Nizoral, the prescription and the over-the-counter version. Neither Niz nixed my flakes completely. I've used the coal-tar shampoos, and while significantly more effective than Nizoral, they do smell like roach spray, don't they? Plus, they're pricey at about $9/bottle. Also, I've tried regular old Head and Shoulders and, well, used it once, went back to coal-tar.
So, it was out of sheer frugality that when I ran out of Denorex I picked up a bottle of Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment. I liked the price (about $5), I liked the smell, I didn't have a ounce of faith in it. It's better than nothing I thought, it's better than spending $9, and it's better than smelling like Raid. I bought it.
Was I ever surprised! Within 2 shampoos my flakes were noticeably diminished and my scalp had never felt so normal. It didn't leave me with a tingling sensation that lasted a few hours and then turned back to itchiness. It just felt normal. No itch. No cool sensation. Nothing. After a week of use, my flakes were all but gone. The only time I noticed flakes anymore was when I ran my hands through my head and a little styling product came loose.
Most importantly I no longer felt "dirty" because I had flakes, and didn't feel embarrassed about scratching my head all the time. It's a very, very effective product and I sincerely recommend it.
My own gripe with it: It works so well that you might just think it's cured your dandruff completely, and that's sadly, impossible. A frugal person like myself my be tempted not to replenish their supply...and that's why I'm itching as I write this. I'll be buying more tomorrow.
