Okay, I was on here reading some reviews of this and I had to jump in. First of all, I have off and on issues with dandruff and what my family like to refer to as "barnacle head". I don't get the little wimpy dandruff flakes... we are talkin' HONKIN' flaky/scabby things like the size of a pencil eraser. There are days when I am frightened to be around myself and I just can't get away. Okay, it's not that bad, but pretty bad. I think my food allergies greatly contribute to mine.
Anyway, I tried the Nizoral script and OTC... all the OTC ones. I even paid $50 for Clobex from the Dr. which is serious stuff. It says do NOT leave on for more than 15 mins. or your Adrenal Glands may shut down!!! WHATT??! I try not to use that one unless I am ready to use a brown paper bag on my head, then I resort to that. SO, I have used them all. I saw this one and thought it might be worth it since it has a different ingredient that the ones I have tried so far.
I shampooed with it 3 times so far and I can honestly say that I am feeling/seeing a difference. My scalp usually feels extremely dry and scaly.. sort of like a nail file, very rough. I don't feel as many barnacles on my scalp either.
LETS GET TO THE SMELL.... I can't believe that people on here think this stuff smells good or okay. I mean out of the bottle it is sort of "fresh" as they mask what is really in there with fragrance. I will be totally honest, and there is really no other way to put this except this way... and forgive me.... but this shampoo, after you rinse and sit back, it makes your head smell like a giant FART!!! NO JOKE.
I kept going around all day saying " Man, what stinks..." Here it was me! I was a giant Farty Head! I was so self conscious all day I kept thinking that I was losing my mind... THEN, I realize that the main ingredient in this shampoo is SULFUR based!! Sulfur is what they make smoke bombs out of! It is what makes hard boiled eggs funk to the high heavens!
Imagine my dismay when I realized that this shampoo that actually helps me makes me into Super Fart!!! WAAAAAAA!! I washed my hair with it again last night and I rinsed for 5 minutes and used a nice conditioner after. I casually walked over to my daughter and said "Hey, smell my hair." She took a wiff and said "BLLLUUUUCCCCKKKK!" I asked her what it smelled like and well... you know what her response was.. a fart!!! HA HA HA HA !!! So I don't know why I am the only one noticing that I am rankin' stankin' from this shampoo. I mean, I don't walk past people and they faint or gag, but I PERSONALLY can smell it on my long hair. I actually considered spraying air freshener on my head this morning and then I thought people would wonder why I smelled like a pine forest. I had to weigh it out... stinker/pine forest...stinker/pine forest??? I finally just sprayed perfume in my hair and was out the door.
My final decision is that this shampoo works great so far, but I haven't heard from any of my friends in a long time.
I would say to buy it for sure if you need it. It's reasonably priced but I fear your social calendar will be suddenly full of openings.
