If you read my review of Tom’s of Maine Natural Long Lasting Deodorant Stick Lavender you are aware of my disappointment with that product. Recently I had much better luck with The Crystal Stick. But I also wanted something that was effective but easier-to-use for my gym bag.
I had bought a stick of Herbal Clear Natural Deodorant in Sport scent for my pre-teen son at Wal-mart. The price was UNDER $2.00 (pre-tax)! So my next trip I decided I had to try it for myself.
How It’s Supposed To Work
Herbal Clear Natural Deodorant Aloe Fresh ingredients are Propylene Glycol, Water, Sodium Stearate, Steareth-100, Triethanolamine, Oleth-2, Alpha Bisabolol, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Coriandrum Sativum (Coriander) Extract, Iris Florentina (Orris) Root Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopheryl (Vitamin E) Acetate, Retinyl (Vitamin A) Palmitate, Fragrance, Tetrasodium EDTA. According to the manufacturer, the Lichen “inhibits odor causing bacteria”.
Herbal Clear Natural Deodorant is a stick that is applied just as any other stick deodorant.
Be sure to note that Herbal Clear Natural Deodorants are deodorant ONLY. They are not antiperspirants (prevent or block perspiration).
My Experience
Much like the Tom’s of Maine Deodorant, Herbal Clear feels kind of sticky going on. And this feel pretty much lasts.
The initial odor protection is great. Even if I apply it after already getting a bit sweaty, Herbal Clear neutralizes the odor. And I like the Aloe Fresh scent. It truly is “fresh” but not too feminine or “sporty”. Unfortunately, for me, the odor protection doesn’t last all day.
My Conclusion
From speaking with other folks who have turned to natural deodorants, finding one you like usually takes some trial-and-error. Effectiveness of these products are truly subject to body chemistry and activity level.
Herbal Clear Natural Deodorant is the cheapest I have found that actually works to my liking.
