serc's Full Review: Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Conditioner 1...
Between myself and my 7-year-old daughter, Julia, my household goes through a lot of conditioner for hair. Julia's hair is quite long, and while mine is only shoulder length, if I don't condition it daily after shampooing, it is impossible to comb through and it gets dry and frizzy. We've been trying different conditioners out, and the latest has been Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Conditioner. It's pretty good!
Description
The bottle for this conditioner is a medium orange color with information printed in white; a few green accents offset the orange. The cap is green, and is the type where you press one edge of it and the opposite edge pops up, revealing a hole from which the conditioner is dispensed. The bottle sits on its cap, which I really like, as it allows the product to come down to the dispenser via gravity. This allows me to get all the conditioner out of the bottle; I hate to waste something I've purchased, but I don't have a lot of time to stand around in the shower, trying to get the last bits of it out of a bottle, either! This is my favorite method of product dispensation for shampoos and conditioners.
The conditioner itself is a very light creamy yellow color. It has approximately the texture that I expect in a cream conditioner, although it is a bit thinner than others I have used. The conditioner is supposed to have "a fusion of white nectarine and pink coral flower," and I assume that is what the scent it. It smells quite good - a bit floral and a bit fruity, but not overwhelmingly either one. I find the nectarine note a bit more noticeable, which is fine with me as I don't generally like florals. Use and Experience
The directions on the bottle read as follows: massage me in. close your eyes. enjoy. then rinse. Voila! you've got my full attention.
Julia and I both use this conditioner only after we have shampooed our hair and rinsed it thoroughly first. I like to take an amount about the size of a quarter and work it through my hair and then leave it there while I wash up or shave my legs. If I'm working with Julia's hair I usually just let the conditioner sit for a minute or two before rinsing. Rinsing the conditioner out is obviously the final step in using this product.
My experience using this conditioner has been positive. Applying it is no problem and it smells pleasant while in my hair. I haven't noticed any problems rinsing it out of my hair or out of Julia's hair; it rinses out quickly and cleanly.
I have been very pleased with the results I've had using this conditioner. It leaves my hair smooth and manageable, and it really does add some volume - which I need. It is also very useful for de-tangling, which is the main reason we condition Julia's very long hair. The scent does cling to hair a bit; it's not overwhelming and it won't conflict with another fragrance, but if someone gets close to your hair within a few hours of using this product, they will likely be able to detect a light, fruity/floral scent. Cost and Where to Buy
As with almost all of the everyday toiletries that I use, this was purchased at our local Target store. The bottle we have contains 23.7 ounces; I think we paid less than $5.00 for it. I see that www.drugstore.com has the same size available for $6.99. I've also seen Herbal Essences products in drugstores like Walgreens and at grocery stores. Herbal Essences does frequently publish coupons in newspaper supplements; it's worth it to keep your eye out for these if you want to save a dollar.
Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Conditioner is a good product that de-tangles hair and keeps it from soft and manageable without weighing it down. I love the way it adds volume as well! 5 stars.
