Pros: Fast printing, nice looks, HP reputation and durability.
Cons: Forget that paper-catching arm just once and you'll never forget again!
The Bottom Line: I recommend it because it prints fast, tells you how much ink is left, has great bonus features, and is made by a trustworthy company.

| humnbrd4g's Full Review: Hewlett Packard Deskjet 5940 InkJet Photo Printer |
So far, I love this printer. I'll get to the specs in a minute, but for now, let me give you a warning. With the fast black text printout of this thing, be sure to extend the paper out tray arm... because it will shoot the pages out at lightening speed and if there's nothing there to stop them, they go everywhere. I know, I speak from a picking-up-the-paper-all-over-the-floor position.
But on to the specifications. This little shiny beauty has a print speed in FastDraft mode of up to 30 ppm in black text. Mixed text with color graphics is up to 24 ppm.
Power consumption: Less than 1 watt max when off, 7 watts average when not printing, 44 watts average when printing. Now how does something that's off use even 1 watt??
Software Compatibility: Windows Compatible (98SE, 2000, Me, and XP), Mac OS X v10.3 and later.
Physical Specifications: 5.67 inches high, 18.07 inches wide, 18.90 inches deep, and weighs (without power supply) 8.28 pounds.
In Tray Capacity: Plain paper sheets up to 100
Out Tray Capacity: Plain paper sheets up to 50
System Requirements:
Windows 98SE, 2000, ME-233 Mhz Processor, 64 MB RAM, 300 MB Hard Disk Space.
Windows XP-233 Mhz Processor, 128 MB RAM, 300 MB Hard Disk Space.
Mac OS X v10.2, v10.3, and later-G3 Processor or better, 128 MB RAM, 150 MB Hard Disk Space.
PictBridge Capability: With a PictBridge-enable camera, you do not need a computer to print digital photographs. Just plug the camera into the printer's PictBridge port using a digital camera USB cable.
Other Miscellaneous Information:
This printer can be connected to a network.
It has an onscreen users guide with troubleshooting.
This printer also has a small screen that will pop up when your printing project begins which shows you your current ink levels. You can disable it simply by clicking a box.
Did I mention it was shiny... it is stainless with black trim... very nice looking.
The fast output, the bonus features, and the looks make this one printer to seriously consider when printer shopping. My last HP Deskjet was still working fine after 6 years of daily heavy printing when I replaced it with this one. Hopefully this one will last just as long.
