Pros: Good color, affordable price, reliable company
Cons: Very deep, takes up a good amount of space for a 15" monitor
The Bottom Line: Despite the space it takes up, the price and quality make sure you are getting a monitor that will last at a reasonable price.

| paseom2's Full Review: Hewlett Packard56 15 inch CRT Monitor |
I bought the HP 56 monitor as a replacement monitor for my laptop screen which died. Because I do not use my laptop as a portable computer, it made sense to buy a desktop monitor. The HP offered a great economic value for the 15" screen and it has all the features you would expect. Of course options to dim, brighten, change screen size, etc are all there. They are controlled by one button, which is used to scroll through the image size, color, etc and two other buttons are used to move the parameters up or down.
I did not need any software to put on my computer to run the monitor. My Windows (98) had the driver built in. Basically it was a plug and play, very simple. The screen is very easy on the eyes, which is important because I use my computer very extensively for school. The downside is that the monitor takes up a good deal of space, it is at least a foot (12") deep. It is not extremely light, but is able to be moved by one person. Overall the monitor is a good economic buy.
