When my employer recently installed an HP 910 in our office my first impression of the machine, based on looks alone, were unimpressive. The 910 looks more like a toy than a fax machine that is in a professional building but once again the adage “Don’t judge a book by its cover” certainly applies with this very capable fax/copier from Hewlett Packard.
One of the first features that I noticed about the HP 910 were the 10 speed dial buttons. We have set ours, very easily, too dial the 10 companies that we do business with most often. Add in the always available redial button and this has cut our contact times down significantly. Reading the manual indicates that there is a way to save more numbers but I haven’t had the time to investigate that further.
The HP 910 also features a digital display that shows the number you have called as well as the menu items that customize the machine. I would prefer to be able to place more than the 20 pieces of paper into the feeding tray but that is a minor annoyance for an otherwise great machine.
We haven’t had any problems with paper jams yet although are fax traffic is rather minor, maybe 25-35 a day. We have had to replace the single black ink cartridge on average of about once every 4-5 weeks and that process is relatively easy.
You can use the HP 910 as a copy machine but my boss kind of frowns on that idea. Mike believes that it is more expensive to use the HP 910 than it is to walk down the hall and use the copier. In case you do use this function you merely push a single button and the HP 910 is ready to copy. The last really great feature of the HP 910 is the fact that it automatically reduces legal documents down to standard size. I think a lot of people that have suffered from half-legalformalitis will appreciate this feature.
Final Analysis Of The HP 910 From Hewlett Packard! The HP 910 is a fax copy machine that I think would be perfect for any business. We have yet to have a problem with ours and we have had it for almost 4 months now. I have found it very easy to use while very easy to maintain. I highly recommend the HP 910 to anyone that needs a fax/copier that prints in black and white.
