Cons:Dead Pixles that grow daily
low volume on maximum
warranty not honored
The Bottom Line: Don't buy unless you get a great deal and you buy extra warranty that will cover problems mentioned above DO NOT rely on manufacturer's warranty. They don't honor it.

We bought a HP because we trusted it to be a good brand.  I was very happy with this laptop.  Although right away I noticed a few "specks" at the bottom right of my screen, I figured no big deal.  I also noticed ridges on the base of the keyboard rib.

I have had my computer for less than one year now, and I can tell you I have dead pixels across the bottom of my screen where my clock, open icons, and battery icon is located as well as my sound icon...and I can't see any of it.  I also have random dead pixels in scribble forms in what appear like black lines with ragged edges across the screen, one so bad I can't read my material most of the time.

Within a couple of months the tinny specks turned into a scribble and I sent it to HP.  You know they said it was my fault - I somehow abused my computer but they did say no visible outside damage was noted.  Apparently there is a leak inside the screen panel.  INSIDE!  They said my warranty would not cover it and I had to pay $475 or so.  This after I bought a med priced laptop.  I said no thanks, I'll just replace the screen later if I have to.  They told me it would get worse - now how they know that?  Indeed it is so bad a few months later, I really am seriously considering buying the screen now since I can't read the screen much right in the middle.

So much for warranty promises.

Also the sound quality is really bad, I either use external speakers or ear plugs for it to be audible for me.

The dvd drive is noisy.  It also didn't want to play some movies at first.  Aside from that it hasn't given me any other problems.  Other reviewers including at the HP site say they have had problems similar to those I have mentioned, so be cautious.  These may be manufacturers defects.  I would not recommend buying this particular product as it fell short of my use.
