Valpal's Full Review: Hewlett Packard LaserJet 8000n Printer
The HP LaserJet 8000N is a great office printer. It is very fast and flexible.
It is a 24 page per minute printer (standard 8.5 by 11). The quality is good (1200 dpi) and steady. It can handle multiple paper sizes (3 tray options) as well many input types (TIF, PDF, Outlook, Word, Excel etc). It can be used with Microsoft or Apple O/S systems. Really a fine piece of hardware.
From a information management perspective it is able to interface with scanners, PC's and networks. Very flexible. The basic package comes with enough to meet your average office needs, but for a small upgrade fee you can get even more features.
The paper flow is very smooth also. This printer never jams. And that is quite a tribute considering it can handle upto three sizes of paper (three feed trays) in addition to the manual sourcing option.
It has average performance related to ink cartridges. When it's out, it is out. Not particularily noteworthy, other than it seems to happen when you have the least amount of time to deal with it.
The only real knock I have on this printer is that it does struggle to go from one format to another. As if all the brain power associated with the changing from one size to the next cause it to think to much. Then it seems as if once the memory jam breaks it works out fine.
The average cost for this type of printer is about $2650.
