| opticsguy's Full Review: Hewlett Packard OfficeJet T45xi All-In-One InkJet ... |
I have had this printer for several years. For the first year I had to fool my computer into thinking it was an R65 Deskjet, because the software would not work on my PC. Upon later inspection I noticed a pin missing from the cable. After fixing that, the bi-directional communication worked finally.
The T45 delays the reboot of my PC by about a minute. Very annoying. Also, it goes offline randomly for no reason at all. The parallel port communication does not seem to be reliable.
The ink cartridges are expensive, don't last long, and will dry out if they are not used occasionally. Like my previous HP printer, after two years the paper started misfeeding, sometimes feeding multiple sheets, but always printing at an angle on the page. I can no longer use this printer for my business (text printed at an angle looks unprofessional), so I will replace this as soon as practical with anything other than an HP printer. I will never buy HP again!
Oh, did I mention that everytime you print, if you don't want the printer to use ink-wasting "Best Quality", you have to go through the menu to select "draft". I guess it is HP's way of getting your wife and kids to waste as much ink as possible printing recipies, etc.
