I've had my HP IPAQ 310 for a few weeks now and I consider myself a very seasoned GPS user, having owned 7 GPS units in the last 5 years. Its not that I get them and I'm not happy with them so I sell them, but rather there is always something "better" being released and I have to have it! The screen on the 310 is really nice and bright and easy to read. I found the interface a little strange as compared with some other models I've owned, but I was able to fingure everything out.
The unit was crashing right out of the box when I 1st got it whenever I would do a search for POI in NJ (where I am located). It got an OUT OF MEMORY error and would reboot. I did a quick search online for this problem and found other users complaining about this software glitch. I contacted HP about it and they emailed me a new POI file to put on the unit and it FIXED THE ERROR! Since then, its working great.
I have to say the processor on this unit is about twice as fast as other models in its price range. This allows the screen to update as you are driving much faster than other units... in fact, it almost looks like a motion picture as it updates... its very fluid and smooth.
The unit has 3D softare built in for buildings and landmarks... but I haven't been in any areas that support that functionality yet... though I'm driving through Baltimore MD tomorrow... maybe I'll get a chance to see it in action.
The unit comes with one USB cord... an AC adapter and car adapter, both of which require the one USB cord they supply... but if you need or want more than just the one cable, there is nothing special about it... you can just pick one up at a local store for a couple of bucks and it will work fine (the HP engineer confirmed this)
The GPS comes with its own carrying case, as well... a nice touch.
