The little Speed Digital Limited High Speed 4port USB 2.0 Hub men in my life!

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:EXTREMELY cute! Handy for providing you a few extra USB ports.
Cons:None, when you factor in the price and the fact there is no power supply!
The Bottom Line: Use of this USB hub requires the user to keep in mind the price of the hub and the fact that there is no power supply. Great for mice.
A few years ago, during the back to school season, I saw this incredibly cute little USB hub. It wasn't just ANY USB hub, it was both fun AND practical! This USB hub looks like a little stick figure guy! I had to get one to go with my outlet guy!
I needed a hub to use with my netbook. There are only 3 USB ports on most netbooks, and they fill up really quickly when you start adding things like a mouse and keyboard! Add to that the fact that things like an external hard drive might require 2 closely spaced ports, you have to have a hub or you are out of luck.
Most of the things I use my Hub men for, yes I have 2, are not things that require a lot of power. That external hard drive I have, and the external DVD player I have for my netbook are not things I trust my hub man to run...I move other things to the hub man, and the hard drive or DVD player to a direct port on the netbook.
My second little hub man is the one I use most frequently. This one is attached to the front of my computer. It is attached with 3M Velcro, so it is somewhat mobil on its 1 foot connector cord.
Into this hub, I usually connect a phone or Nook charger wire. I have yet to have any issues with my hub men. I guess because I realize they are cheap, and they are more about cuteness and are not likely to run as if they were 4 USB ports connected directly to my computer!
With the hub man for my netbook, I have had my mouse plugged in, my phone, and a little USB powered fan, and they all functioned properly.
As to the hub itself, it looks like a little man. The head is pretty much for decoration, complete with a stamped in smiley face. The torso is where the actual USB hub is located. The torso also has a glowing light to let you know the hub is functioning...guess where that light is! Yep, it is like a cute little heart for the hub man.
Branching off from the torso, in the appropriate locations, are 4 limbs. Each limb is approximately an inch long, with a USB hub as a "foot" or "hand".
You can not look at this product, and its price, and seriously expect major performance. It is very obvious that there is no power to this hub, except what your computer feeds it from the one port it is plugged into.
This isn't going to power anything. This hub is for use as a data port mainly. This is definitely one of those things you buy for the AWWW factor, and not because it is going to solve your every USB port need!
