| crowder's Full Review: HILTON ATLANTA AIRPORT |
My wife and I often fly out of Atlanta, GA early in the morning for our vacations. Problem is we live in Chattanooga, Tennessee, about 1.5 hours north of there. We have stayed in several hotels near the Atlanta Hartsfield airport on the night before a flight, and our recent stay at the Hilton Atlanta Airport was a mostly pleasant one.
Our room was clean, spacious, and decorated about as nicely as the Atlanta Ritz-Carlton Downtown, with rich colors and fabrics. There was a well-stocked minibar and a full-size coffee maker. The TV was small at about 20 inches, but the hotel does provide HBO. There was a nice seating area in the room in addition to the two queen size beds. The bathroom was the only hint at the hotel's age--it was clean but a bit lacking in style. However, the showerhead was so amazing that I feel bad knocking the sink. It provided a powerful rush of steaming hot water that was a real eye-opener. The towels were decent as well. A great value at the Priceline rate of $65 for the night.
The hotel is very close to the airport--probably a five minute drive from parking lot to parking lot. It's a large hotel with a modern design and an airy, open lobby. There are frequent shuttles to the airport and back. Our original plan was to park at the Hilton during our entire vacation, thinking it would be less expensive than the airport. In fact, the Hilton website advertises that parking at the hotel costs $5 per day. However, upon check-in we learned that such a rate only applies to the nights you spend in the hotel. Otherwise you pay $12 per day, the same rate as the mid-term parking at the airport. Further, the concierge explained that the shuttle is often very crowded first thing in the AM, leading to long waits. We wound up driving to the airport for the convenience and to avoid the potential of needing a cab to get to the airport.
In the morning there was a USA today in the hallway, which I always appreciate. We arrived at midnight on a Tuesday night and left by 8 AM the next day, so we didn't sample any restaurants on the property.
The staff were friendly and efficient. There are two concierges on duty during business hours, a nice convenience. There is also an airport-style business suite in the lobby where patrons can log on to the web or work on other business.
