Pros: Kept ya hooked wanting to find the kidnapper
Cons: Even if it was a good read, I can't seem to get the idea out of my head that romance novels are BAD! :o)

| tyjmsmith's Full Review: His Only Son Books |
His Only Son, by Kelsey Roberts was a definitely different type of romance novel. It was also a mystery. This is the second freebie book I got (if you read my Midnight Caller review you know what I’m talking about). It was without a doubt better than the other one.
This book is about a woman, Callie, whose son was kidnapped from the hospital when he was a day old. The male leading role is Sam Landry, the oldest of the Landry brothers (there are six). After Sam’s wife died, he wanted to adopt his three year old son only to find out that his departed wife had told him nothing but lies about her son. You can see where this is going right?
So Sam and Callie hook up in more ways than one and do some detective work of their own. Important little tidbits are dropped here and there to help you, the reader, solve the mystery along with the characters.
Overall, this book was truly good. It kept you guessing on who the kidnapper was up until the last few pages, and then it all came together. I had only found one mistake and that was just a name mistake.
Kelsey Roberts is planning on writing a Landry Boys series and this was the first one of the series. I guess she is starting with the oldest and working to the youngest. In her author’s note at the beginning of the book she stated, “…it’s my job to find each one of them a love interest.” I thought that was an interesting way to create a series.
Let’s see…should I recommend buying this book or just checking it out at the library? Hmmm….I guess you really should save your money and just go get it from the library. With it being a mystery, it does not have much re-read potential. I do believe I will be on the look out for the next book in the series. It’s not due out until December or January of this year or next.
