I picked this set only because it was the only 42" Plasma that would fit into the space (40") I have. In the store (Future Shop) the picture didn't look as vivid as the Panasonic next to it. But it still looked good enough. Once hooked up at home, I was thrilled with the picture. It's at least as good as the Panasonic. I haven't had it calibrated since I can't imagine a better picture. It's 1024x1024 which makes the native 1080i broadcasts really crisp.
I'm a sports fan and the HD sports broadcasts are so good that my wife sometimes will watch (for a while) just to see the picture. The 16x9 screen is especially nice for baseball and hockey.
I've only had this set for 4 months but it has been trouble free. I don't use the remote so can't comment. Also haven't tried the tuner since the cable box (and PVR) provides every station in the area and way more features.
It's annoying that most shows are not yet in HD, although the HD channels from my cable provider (Rogers) have very good standard pictures. Anyone watching HBO's Rome series should try it in HD - wow!
