My 3 year old granddaughter went through a streak when every time she came to visit she wanted shredded cheese. There are times when I purchase shredded cheese from the store because it is quick and handy, and other times when I don't  have any on hand. I was glad that I had this Hoan 4 Sided Cheese Grater in my cupboard one day when she came to visit unexpectedly because I didn't have any shredded cheese on hand for her and needed to quickly grate some for her quickly and easily.

I guess she takes after me in that she really loves cheese, just like me. I enjoy it in many ways from macaroni & cheese to pizza loaded with extra cheese, to omelets, tacos, loaded baked potatoes, and more. Shredded cheese is eaten in so many things, and is one thing I don't like to be without.
 
We have owned this Hoan 4 Sided Grater for several years, and can't imagine life without it. It is sharp enough to shred any type of cheese quickly and easily. It is sturdy enough for other items as well. In addition to shredding cheeses with this grater, I have also used it for other foods such as onions, carrots, cucumbers and more. It makes adding extra veggies to my salads quick and easy.

It is made of stainless steel so it has not rusted through all of the time we have been using it. It has a good quality, sturdy, white plastic handle, making it easy to grasp and hold on to while grating foods. The blades are sharp, much more so than other similar graters I have used. Because the blades are so sharp, it cuts foods really well, but be careful not to cut your fingers while grating other items. 

The Hoan 4 Sided Grater has four different grating options, plus a slicer.  We mainly use the two larger sizes of holes for shredding cheeses, carrots, cabbage, and similar items, and the slicer for cheeses and cucumber slices. There are also smaller holes for making thinner shreds or crumbled pieces, although these holes were too small to be useful to me. Even though I haven't found a need for these tiny holes though, the ones I have used worked well for shredding or slicing any foods I have tried them on.

The grating area of this product is just over 7 inches tall, with the entire unit being about 9 3/4 inches tall. The grater is approximately 4 inches wide on the two widest sides, by about 3 inches on the narrower sides. The largest part of this grater is at the bottom, then slants up slightly making the top portion a bit narrower.

This slicer is easy to use. Just slide the foods across the holes to shred your cheeses or veggies. As the food slides across the holes, the shredded foods will drop inside the grater and onto your plate or bowl beneath. When you are finished, it works well to reach up inside and remove any remaining cheese or veggies from inside the grater before washing it.

One thing I have never liked about this type of grater is cleanup, however this one works well if rinsed then placed in the dishwasher. Hand washing is possible, however much more difficult. Washing the inside is easy enough, however the outside is difficult to clean by hand. A sponge or dishcloth gets caught easily on the holes when cleaning the outside, and can quickly shred a sponge without cleaning the grater. Remember when hand washing this that the blades are very sharp and you could easily cut yourself if you aren't careful.

 I recommend this product for all households, however I suggest that it only be used by adults because of how sharp it is. It saves time by easily grating blocks of cheese in just a couple of minutes, and saves money by allowing you to grate your own cheeses rather than spending more for grated cheeses in the store.
