Pros: Great pool for kids, great location, price was right.
Cons: Somewhat run down, less than enthusiastic staff.
The Bottom Line: For the price, it was more than worth it to us, but don't pay full price.

| robtimm's Full Review: Holiday Inn ORLANDO-INTL DRIVE RESORT |
I would like to comment on our stay at this Holiday Inn. We traveled with three children, our biggest fear was being found out. This place is very big, and very busy, they could not care less about how many children we had, no one asked. They did not care about much else either. As other reviews have said, the place is somewhat run down and needs updating. Our room was in an "out building" (the two story building in the web picture between the tower and the pool). It was a typical outside entrance room with one wall all glass, door, and air conditioning unit. One afternoon, the a/c unit switched to heat as it had become too cool in the room, and that burning smell a season's first use produces set off the room smoke detector. That prompted our daughter to try our cell phone twice as we were across the street having dinner. The "this user is unavailable message" she got cost us $6.50 each time, with no sympathy refund at check out (local calls were charged $1.00 each and toll free .50 each). The a/c unit in addtion to being smelly and noisy, had soaked the carpeting around it, making it impossible to set up our air mattress there, it fit snugly between the beds. The beds were typical rock hard hotel variety. Our daughter commented on blue marker on the blankets, we assured her that the blanket were washed in between guests. Our faith was questioned when she saw the same blue marker on the night stand. The TV was new, but limited channels with no cartoon channel for the kids. We used the heck out of the microwave and refrigerator, which were both clean and new.
The pool area was a hit with the kids. There were plenty of towels provided poolside. The grounds were nicely landscaped, only because that service is contracted out, if only they had contracted out the maintenance. The others staying there were not offensive, but that may have been blind luck. It seemed that the pool area may have been anything goes after dark, and the deck had not been swept during the four days we visited it.
The location is great with plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. There is even a bus that goes up and down International Drive if you don't care to drive (It was very congested Saturday night, but only held us up 10 minutes). It was a quick drive to Disney, and a quick return back.
All in all, for a total of around $45 per night, $3.95 resort fee included, we would do it again. We must be getting used to this poor service thing living in Atlanta.
p.s. Bring your own drink to the pool, as a cup up Bud Light was $3.50 at the Tiki bar, and I'm sure no one would care.
