Pros:The juice is not gritty as I thought it would be and tastes like pineapples.
Cons:The gastrointestinal torture that comes with such fasting and the lack of significant results.
The Bottom Line: This product is not worth the side effects experienced and did not result in any noticeable results for me. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone.
Why I bought this product in the first place:
Recommend this product?
I bought this product as a last resort attempt in the hopes that I would somehow lose 10 lbs in two days so that I could fit into my bridesmaid dress without having to feel suffocated in the bustier that went with it. Normally I would never put myself through any fasting diet, but I purchased this product out of sheer desperation, hoping that somehow this "miracle" 48-hour diet might actually work in my favor.
Basic claims made by this product:
-"Lose weight naturally, while you cleanse, detoxify and rejuvenate your body: For 2 days enjoy a special formulation of all natural juices and botanical extracts. Instead of fats, processed sugars and artificial ingredients, you will flood your body with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and essential oils that detoxify and rejuvenate your body while you shed pounds."
-"Contains 100% pasteurized fruit juice from concentrates and purees by weight"
-"Lose up to 10 lbs within 48 hours"
-"Clinically Proven To Reduce Body Fat Up To 6.5 % In The First 2 Days!"
-Gives the body a "vacation by washing away unhealthy toxins and fat, and giving your digestive system a much needed break."
Instructions for use:
"Mix one 4oz serving of concentrate with 4oz. of bottled water. Sip over the next 4 hours. Repeat this three more times during the rest of the day. It is recommended that you use the Hollywood 24 or 48 Hour Miracle Diet at least once a month. Many customers follow the Hollywood 48 Hour Miracle Diet once a week. It is important to remember to eat a healthy, balanced diet in between uses until you are satisfied with your weight loss."
How I used the product:
I used this product EXACTLY as instructed, diluting the concentrate and sipping it over 4 hours then repeating it 3 times a day, for 2 days. However, after the first 48-hour use and having experienced extremely unpleasant side effects, I decided the 48-hour torture wasn't worth repeating ever again (as instructed on the directions).
What I liked:
The juice was surprisingly very good and tasted like pineapples and passion orange juice. I've tried "quick-fix" diets that required mixing of powder with liquid which was never pleasant to ingest but this was rather palatable and easy to use.
What I didn't like:
I'm sure most of the bad side effects I experienced were probably ones most people would expect from fasting and sipping on fruit juice for two days, but I had hoped the benefits would outweigh the drawbacks with this product. I experienced the following gastrointestinal effects: extreme bloating, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, increased heartburn (probably due to starvation) and exacerbated acid reflux problems. How this product gives your "digestive system a much needed break," I do not know, as I felt during this 48-hour period, I was putting my digestive system through some serious torture. I also experienced waves of dizziness and sheer exhaustion during this period.
I weighed myself before and after, and I lost a measly 2 lbs. Two lbs that made absolutely no difference in my waist size and 2 lbs that I gained (and then more) the day after when I gorged myself out of fear I would faint while walking down the aisle at my sister's wedding.
As for the claims mentioned above, I felt the only one that I couldn't disprove was that it "contains 100% pasteurized fruit juice from concentrates and purees by weight." Which I am sure is probably correct to some degree although one can never really be sure if that is true. As for the claim that it is clinically proven to burn body fat and reduce toxins--I am personally unaware of any clinical evidence out there, based on primary scientific literature, that supports this claim.
Don't put yourself through this kind of hell, even if you are extremely desperate. It is not worth the meager results and at the end of the fasting you will most likely rather be 20 lbs heavier than be experiencing the gastrointestinal problems that come with the use of this product. If you really feel it is worth it, I certainly wouldn't recommend paying over twenty bucks for it when you could probably end up with similar results on your own.
