The Holy Bible: BANNED? Are We Insane?

Review by RCarte2000
Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros:The Word of GOD. Scripture designed for God-Fearing Christians to abide by.
Cons:Many of the family generational names are difficult.
The Bottom Line: The Holy Bible is THE SINGLE MOST GREATEST WORK of all time. It was given to us by our Lord and should be cherished, not banned!

For this write off, I was given an internet address to check out to search for a book that has been banned/censored for one reason or another and write about it. I saw many books on that list that I have read in one capacity or another, such as Huck Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, A Wrinkle In Time, and others. The one that stuck out most in my head and truly astounded me was, "The Holy Bible!" Can you truly believe that? The Bible... a banned book? My first thought was "What kind of Moronic Society are we living in?" I was quite disturbed by this.
After a little thought and a cooling down period, I realized that it is all of the "Freedom of Religion" advocates who caused this to happen. Now, here's my stand on this... if you BAN a religious document, writing, journal, or in this case, HOLY BIBLE, aren't you, in a sense, violating the Freedom of Religion of Christians? Aren't you just as blasphemous as those who feel that the Holy Bible is a threat to their religion? So, what good does it do to have The Holy Bible on a banned book list anyway?
The Holy Bible is the foundation of the Christian religion and beliefs. It is the word of our God as we know it. It is the teachings, the morals, the parables, the life lessons and the truths that we as Christians strive to live our life according to. Who should be powerful enough to ban our beliefs? Why should our religion be banned? As hard as I tried, as much as I searched, I didn't find other Holy Scrolls or other religious documents listed on that banned book list. I didn't see the Koran or any other foreign religious works. Where are these? Aren't those violating my Freedom of Religion? Shouldn't they be included on this list? What makes them so different?
Each book of our Holy Bible has a different lesson or moral to it. It guides us in our lifestyles as we follow the lives of those who lived in Jesus' day. Those whom God himself created for us to learn from. We learn of the creation of man, which is very important to all of the living. We learn about death and our futures. We learn of the first sins and of forgiveness. It is of these words and promises that we find our every day strength and guidance and some mortal, some human being created by God himself, has been so influenced by the world that he/she decides that the Holy Bible should be a banned work? We are not referring to Mark Twain literature here! We aren't finding vulgar acts of sex, immorality, cursing or anything of that nature. We find the way, the truth, and the life and someone who isn't worthy of deciding for us decides that it is to be banned. Frankly, that angers me.
The Holy Bible is a pure and holy writing that should be read by everyone at least once in their lifetime. They should read it, learn it, live it, teach it and pray through it each and every day of their lives. I never profess to be perfect. Nor do I profess to understand every single word of the Bible. It's impossible, as hard as I try. Most of those generational names tend to string me up and cause difficulty, but I get through and I learn what I need to learn. This is what everyone else needs to be doing as well.
Okay, I'll get off of my soap-box now. I have expressed my true feeling toward the immorality of banning such a sacred writing. Sure, the adult stores and can sell pornography and the normal book stores can sell the most gruesome and graphic novels known to man, but the Bible is a banned work, and it is the most important read of a lifetime. This just goes to show what kind of sick and perverse world we live in.
