Pros: Clean fresh air using nothing but fresh water
Cons: scent refils are a bit expensive, but not needed for operation
Ive tried many, many different air purifiers in the last ten years. Ive used the filter type, that require three plus filters to clean the air; the electro-magnetic cleaner that attracts the dirty air to a metallic grid; and the combined electro-magnetic/filter fan combination, that does all three cleans the air, removes the impurities and blows the clean air out with a fan.
None of these products work as well as they say they do. Ive given each of them quite a task when cleaning the air in my home two dogs, three people cooking different smelling foods, and a part time smoker (Yes, the occasional cigarette.) All of these filters, and I assumed any filters thereafter, would fail at cleaning my air. Until the BREATHE machine.
If any consumers out there have ever heard of a Rainbow? vacuum cleaning system, youll know that the Rainbows use water to filter dirt from the air as you vacuum. Its a great take on the idea of cleaning with water...except the $1200 + price tag on these machines. I admit, I looked for an air purifier and was willing to pay a certain price - Just not $1200.
I saw an infomercial on TV one day about the BREATHE air system. I was in love. I knew from experience that the idea of cleaning the air with water was a sure way to produce clean air; my friend owns a Rainbow system, and Ive seen and smelt the results with my own eyes...oh, and nose! The BREATHE systems fans the dirty air through an intake in the back side of the machine. As it hits the water, the dirt and impurities are attracted to the water, and the fan then blows the clean air back into the room. The BREATHE also has about six or seven different blue lights streaming into the water as it circulates; it gives the feel that this machine is straight out of ET or some sci-fi movie!
The price on the BREATHE on the commercial was a little high for me. I thought, Okay, Ill just wait for it to come out in the stores. Little did I know that Id find one right there in Bed, Bath and Beyond! It was just last week that I was walking around the store, doing some much needed Christmas shopping, when I saw the BREATHE demonstration on a display. So I tinkered with the machine; I took it apart, looked at the way it was constructed, how it worked. I even stood over the machine to smell the clean air coming out...and I was whisked away to a place I dont really think I could explain. It was a refreshing breath that I took, one I think I havent taken since I was last in the mountains after a fresh morning rain.
So I grabbed my BREATHE off the shelf and ran home!
The BREATHE system contains the following;
1. The BREATHE machine;
2. 3 bottles of BREATHE air refreshing liquid concentrates (Lemon, Vanilla and Lime);
3. Instructions and Warranty
Out of the package the BREATHE comes. Setup is very simple just place the correct amount of water in the bowl (right between the MIN and MAX fill lines), add the chosen scent additive (The additive is a personal preference. You can leave the additive out and use regular water to clean the air.) And turn on the machine.
The BREATHE system starts to circulate the air around the water, and the water naturally moves in the direction of the air. In a couple of minutes, the water swirls around in a calm, soothing motion; be careful of the table you place this on, by the way; I initially had it on an end table in my family room, and the whole table shook violently while the machine warmed up!
The BREATHE took less than a minute to circulate the lemon scent throughout my family room, and took less than thirty minutes for my WHOLE house to be filled with the scent!
There are a couple of specs I should point out about the BREATHE system;
- 2 ? cord for easy operation
- 3 way press button for operation; one press is on with lights in water, two presses are on with no lights, and three turns the machine off.
- After using the BREATHE machine, the inside spindle of the fan needs to be cleaned every month. There are easy to use directions in removing and cleaning the spindle.
- As a side note, I only run my machine when we are using the room it is in. I make sure that every evening I thoroughly rinse the collection bowl and dry the bowl, as a precaution not to let mold or mildew grow inside. Also, there are three bottles of scent refil that comes with the BREATHE. There are refils availible at Bed, Bath and Beyond, however they are a bit expensive (12 oz. bottle for $12.99) These scents are lovely, but are not mandatory for operation.
I noticed an immediate difference in my family room after using the BREATHE for less than an hour. It gives the room a clean feeling, not only to the smell but the feel too. My family room feels so clean after I leave the BREATHE on while I clean the room...no musty odor, no dog smell, and the way it makes cigarette smoke disappear! Weve ran just clean water in the machine to see what turned up, and there was tons of brown water just floating around.
Im in love with my BREATHE machine. I feel like Im helping my family by running this machine...were all breathing cleaner, fresher-smelling air. That makes them happy, and in return, makes me happy.
