Pros: size, ease of use, single blade for even cut, no exhaust smell
Cons: small front tires, not enough blade height adjustments
This mower is a wonderful reliabale mower. It starts everytime on the first crank, its small and a little weird looking. What I love most about it is the size...it fits in my garage taking up about the same footprint as a push mower. The small size is great in so many ways because it can be pushed around the garage easily without being started and parked so that it takes up the least amout of space in your garage.
It cuts very even since it only has one blade...this is another beautiful feature. I use to mow with a riding mower with 2 blades and unless you sharpened the blades weekly the mower would always cut uneven and leave a ridge in the middle that would not be exposed until the day after mowing. My yard looks like the golf course now! Another plus about the single blade....you can mow at a faster speed than the conventional riding mower due to the rotational speed of the blade...you can fly with this mower...sure it only cuts 30 inches at a time...but at a pretty quick speed. I actually cut my lawn about 30 minutes faster than my old conventional 2 blade 42 inch cut mower.
I have a sensitive nose and one of the first things I noticed that was different about this mower was that it must burn the gas more efficiently because the exhaust fumes are near odorless. I no longer smell like a gas can when I have finished the lawn! Honda machines always take pride in efficiency...I guess this applies to the mower family too?!
The Cons are: --I think the front tires are too small and it is a little noisy. I wear ear protection and I suggest you do too. Part of the reason I think its more noisy is because the muffler is directly behind you opposed to most mowers with the engine in the front with the exhaust in the very front. I mow on the top setting and could really need a setting or two more. The bottom settings would scalp a golf green. They(lower settings) are useless....why would any homeowner want these lower settings...I sure don't know?!? There is no way to raise the mower deck any more....soo....I am putting larger tires on my Honda to raise the mower deck at least 1 more inch.
All in all this mower is perfect for the large lot homeowner. I would recommend this to anyone that owns less than 1.5 acres. It turns on a dime and has speed sensitive steering that slows you down automatically if you turn sharply while in a high gear. Its reliable, easy to drive, and its small!
