jierik's Full Review: Honeywell HZ519 Electric Baseboard Heater
I bought a couple of these when they were on sale, for 25$, at home depot last year. We use them to heat the bedrooms at night when the rest of the house is no longer heated.
First of all, the heater does a pretty decent job in a not too large room. The cord is long enough and the unit is not too big. You need to be careful with curtains and the like, but that applies to all heaters I guess. It is easy to operate with the digital controls, and I like the fact that you can set the temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius. There also is a timer on board. It is easy to set the controls, but the display is difficult to read from a distance.
All in all, it does a good job, and apart from some minor nuisances (who needs a handle on a baseboard heater???), the only drawback is a rather big one, it is noisy. Yes, noisy, despite the fact that it has no fan. It makes a rattling and clicking noise once the thermostat shuts the heater off, I guess because the cooling leads to unequal shrinkage of metal and plastic. This is a bummer because we chose the baseboard heater over a ceramic, fan driven heater because of the anticipated silence. Other, more simple models we have, don't have this problem.
