Pros:New! Modern! Good Food! Good Shopping!
Cons:New! Modern! Good Food! Good Shopping!
The Bottom Line: It is a wonderful airport you wouldn't want to leave!

Designed by Norman Foster Group, the Hong Kong International Airport in Chek Lap Kok opens in 2002, is marvellous!

First of all, with Norman Foster heading the design team, the awards-winning airport looks very futuristic and cyber. The clear glass sunroof allows the sunlight to shine through which is very economical and environmental friendly.
There is a funny gossip about the marble floor. When it first opens, the floor was polished so shinny that it reflects the ladies' panties. So it was tone down the mat finished now. The bathrooms are clean and tidy. It is very spacious and modern.

Upon leaving:
The airport is located in the suburb, so it takes more than an hour to reach there from the Hong Kong Island. Transportation is convenient since one can transfer from Metro Transit Railway (MTR) to Airport Express Train or even check in the luggage via the Airport Express Station in various city locations. There are shuttle buses also. They are cheaper but tends to delay when there is heavy traffic.
There are many different kinds of cuisine you can choose. For an afternoon tea set, it can go from HK dollar $20 to $100. There are foot massage shops and gift shops open near the waiting area right before visitors on board the plane. There are shops selling everyday items at reasonable prices.

Upon arrival:
Once the passengers get off from the plane, there is a lady just right outside the gate greeting each passenger, whether you need to transit or exit, her job is to make sure each one goes to the right place. I really think this service is so thoughtful! I need to ride on the jet foil to Macau, so she directs me to the right direction and gave me some helpful hints. When I purchase the ticket, they accept Hong
Kong money or credit cards. While I was waiting for the boat to board, there is an exit i can pass through to reach the food court. There is a wide selection of food. It ranges from causal fast food to delicate
Chinese cuisine. This is great for hungry travelers because the price is right and the food is good! There are pretty nice sofa crosy lounges for visitors to have a short lap. There are duty-free shops for visitors. The sales are pretty friendly and there are many kinds of goods to choose from. It is such an enjoyable experience. By the time I need to board the boat, I still want to shop more in the airport!
