Disney's Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review:A Must Do When In Disney World!
Written: Jan 1, 2011 (Updated Jan 19, 2011)
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Fast paced entertainment
Cons:pricey for some yet I still thought a good value
The Bottom Line: This is an all stops out show that offers fun-family humour at a lightning fast pace.
If there is one show you must catch in Disney, it's the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review!
The Hoop-Dee-Doo Review is a HIT!!
I recall the very first time I saw an old west musical review in Disney's Orlando park system, Walt Disney World. It was the Diamond Horseshoe review that was in the Frontierland section of the Magic Kingdom. It was a fun interactive vaudeville type show with a western theme. It always had huge lines. It seemed that planning closed the Diamond Horseshoe but brought the same type show over to a brand new venue, Pioneer Hall in Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. This time it was bigger and better and also included a dinner.
We did eventually get there and I have to say it was one of the most fun-filled nights of our families life! My wife and I laughed till we cried and the kids were equally having fun...sometimes at dad's expense.
The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review
The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review is set in Walt Disney Worlds Fort Wilderness that is a short boat ride from the Magic Kingdom. Bus service and cars get there too.
First thing, the show is pricey at near $60 for adults now. You do however also get an all you can eat dinner (chicken, ribs, corn, veggie, baked beans and much more) served to your table by enthusiastic wait staff that is sure to charm and have you laughing. They sure did for us. I'll also note that the basic fare food is outrageously delicious! Oh Yeah!!
Reservations and payment MUST be made before showing up. You can purchase tickets on-line. They want you outside the large dance hall about thirty to forty minutes before the show. Everything starts right on time and they don't want stragglers walking in stealing attention from the show. There are also people waiting to getin on a cancelled ticket or a no-show. Get there early.
The show is a western style review with groups singing, a couple of fun-lovin' saloon gals, one act humorists and more. It's a very fast paced show with the cast interacting and getting the audience involved. The waitstaff as I mentioned also get into the act being sure each table is having a good ol' time.
Be warned, you could be put on the spot. That was just what my wife and kids wanted and got when they volunteered me to help with the closing act.
pops Take
The hall is a large room and we were fortunate to get first row seats. We were five at a large round table and our show was a delight with our waitstaff getting everyone involved, including my youngest son who doesn't get "out there" often.
We had many a laugh and the singing in groups duets and solo were very good and entertaining. The humor is all rated G and it shows how much fun can be had without getting trashy. Though one could tell the show is canned, there were still those "magic" moments that the actors shined the light on. Ya never know where the "fun" will come from.
Though I give the place five stars my kids would give it six...and yes, they still have photos of dad doing pirouettes in a Tu-Tu at shows end. I think it was dad exhibiting his big "end" they were laughing about.
The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review is a fun show and though seemingly pricey, it was as entertaining as many a Broadway show I have ever been too...and I was also WELL satisfied with the good grub they were serving.
I recommend this show to all fun loving people.
An awesome family show!
