energyplus's Full Review: Hoover U5750-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum
Having purchased the 5750 BEFORE reading Epinions (hate it when I do that), I was quite concerned when I returned home with my new vacuum and THEN read the reviews here. In fact, I was almost tempted to return it, but figured I should try it for a couple of weeks first. I'm glad I waited.
This vacuum works very well. I am both amazed and appalled at the amount of dirt this vacuum pulls out of my carpet. Amazed at how well it's working, appalled at what has been in my carpet all these years.
Others have covered setup, it's easy and I won't go into that. What I am confused about, are the number and degree of the detractors. I have to wonder if A. Were their houses even dirtier than mine, thus the problems? B. Did they use it several times before writing? C. Did they abuse it? I have to ask, since I've experienced none of these problems.
Yes, the filters get dirty quickly, but less so since the first time I used it and I suspect it will improve the more I vacuum. I want the filter to get dirty, that’s why I bought this thing in the first place!
I've experienced no problems with failed parts, my "powered hand tool" (ok, that's a stretch, I admit) works fine, cleaning stairs and small areas is a snap. The 5750 is much more quiet than my previous vacuum, cleans much, much better and I can't imagine why people have complained.
No, I don't work for Hoover, but I am in the engineering field and work for a nonprofit. A significant part of my job focuses on indoor air quality and thus my interest in the filtration system. I don't think there's an ideal answer here, the filter cabinet is not "sealed" as I've seen claimed, but it works fine. If you're that worried about allergies, you probably shouldn't have carpet in the first place (and even that issue is now being debated, since carpet does "hold" dirt and thus keeps it from becoming airborne as easily).
I'd recommend this vacuum as a good choice to anyone asking.
