dmwt's Full Review: Hoover U5750-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum
Well, just last night our 3.5 year old dirt devil started sounding and smelling funny. It had definitely got in some good use through the years so we decided not to even bother trying to fix it and decided to go ahead with a new one.
I looked on-line to see what was out there and what some of the going prices were for new vacuums these days. Obviously, there was quite a range. To make a long story short, we decided on the current model. I will say overall that it is a great improvement from my previous vacuum.
For one thing it glides along on my carpet and linoleum floors without much effort at all. With the amount of suction that this vacuum has, it practically propels itself. I literally broke out in a small sweat just pushing my old vacuum across the floor. This vacuum also came with a 24 ft. cord. And I was able to plug in the vacuum and use only one outlet to vacuum all of our rooms upstairs. So...at this point things are looking good.
When I speak of the suction power this vacuum has I can tell you that I really did'nt think that some of the things I found in the canister really were embedded in my carpet. At this point I am pretty hooked.
Now its down to the nifty little hand tools and attachments that it comes with and...I like them. I used the powered hand tool today on my couch and chair and found that the amount of suction that it has...did a fine job of eliminating the crumbs and pet hairs that had landed there. So at this point I have very few complaints...but I do have a few minor ones.
For one thing, I do like a long hose on my vacuum so I can maneuver it just about anywhere to get into the tight corners and high to reach places. Well, at this point I have'nt needed to use it but compared to the hose on my old sweeper, this one disappointed me a little.
Though I may have sweat a little when it came to vacuuming with my old sweeper I surely did'nt when it came to carrying it up and down stairs. Thus, you guessed it...
this vacuum is'nt exactly the lightest one on the market.
Last but not least, there is the wonderful filtering system. My old vacuum was a bagless and I liked that...so that is why we went for another. The whole set up of filters etc. in this one makes for pretty easy cleanup if you don't mind a little mess or an occasional dust ball trying to get away when you are emptying the canister. I will admit that one turn off is that you can get a fine plume of dust particles coming at you if you don't reach down deep enouph in your garbage can to empty the canister. We don't have allergies so this does'nt bother me much but if you do this might not be great.
Overall, if you look after your vacuum and treat it right I am sure it will give you much vacuuming pleasure for years to come....at least that's what our goal is!!!
