Pros:Nice concept wish it was reliable
Cons:2 machines both leak after a year
The Bottom Line: After buy 2 similar machines I do not recommend buying this machine or a Hoover. They do not stand behind their products.
I really like the idea of this product. But why can't they last like the old faithful wand and tank carpet cleaners that we had years ago... that machine was about 30 years old before I retired it. Approx 10 years ago I retired my wand and tank machine, and bought one of the first Hoover Steam vacs like this new Model, I now how. Because I loved how easy it was to use and I liked the concept of the brushes with the steam water extraction. (Of course there is no Steam and you have to make sure your water is nice and HOT when you fill the reservoir). However...Soon after the 1 years warranty lapsed, my machine started to leak and the Brushes hardly moved. I had to fight with Hoover to cover the repairs...When I received the machine back from the Repair shop it soon began to leak again and the brushes never seemed to work right.

I dealt with this leaking machine for another 7 years and then purchased this newer model Hoover Steam Vac. Because I liked all the other functions about it. At this time I thought Hoover has to have fixed these issues with the machines leaking and improved the brush rotation problem by now. But sadly they had not. Again soon after a year, my machine started to leak, and the effectiveness of the brushes are very weak. I cannot carry it around without dirty water dripping everywhere.
I called Hoover Service and again they said they would not cover the repairs because it is past a year. He told me it was going to cost over 45.00 for them to look at the machine and I would have to pay part costs. He then went on to explain that these models are prone for the dirty water reservoir to crack and leak. I took mine out and it was fine. However when I took it out I found the problem. The Hose for the hand cleaner was torn. It has a huge hole in it at the base. It is clear I did not do this to the hose.
I then asked the Service center as to why the machine does not produce steam when it is called a steam cleaner..... I was told by the Hoover repair center that very few steam cleaners actually produce steam. They told me that when you have a heating unit that heats the water, it has its own problems with breakdown. He then stated to me that all you need to have for an effective job cleaning is hot tap water at 130- 140 degrees. He then stated that the only good machines are the kind that you see in the stores that are rented out and have an insulated water reservoir. He stated that if I wanted quality and something that would last beyond a year....he could sell me one of those for around $700.00
In My conversation with Hoover Customer service I explained to them that I believed in Hoover products and like the functions of the machine.... but I cannot purchase another if this is what I can expect after the first year. They did not seem to care. I suggest that you stay away from Hoover products as they do not support your purchase beyond their warranty... And are not concerned with customer satisfaction.
