yakkowarner Hit the descriptive problems on the head. This unit, although the concept is great, is cheaply constructed. The rubber scrubbing brushes only do a bit of the scrubbing normally required, it would be better if they had a two stage scrubbing system, one of which could be slightly abrasive to remove overspill and cooking spots, not to mention shoe markings. I too had a problem not paying attention to the clean out (directions), it refused to dispense or vacuum up water. Something also seems to 'drop' at the head, not sure what. Took it to a vacuum repair shop, owner told me it wasn't worth fixing, he had just thrown out 4-6 of them, couldn't get parts and some just could not be repaired. Very discouraging, as I do like the unit when it works.
As I recall, you are supposed to pull on the lever inside the handle as you pull unit towards you to release the cleaning fluid, then push the unit through the released fluid, forward to give the brushes something wet to clean with. I only have a small kitchen linoleum, but sometimes find I have to refill fluid to finish the job. Great concept, just wish it worked better. cottagegal.
