Throw your Dyson out! This cheap, ugly Hoover Tempo attacks pet hair like a rabid spider monkey!! I have tried many, many vaccums from Dyson, Oreck, Rainbow, Kirby, Dirt Devil, Bissell etc. however NONE of them even come close to the overall value and performance of this smurf looking hoover. It is a bit noisy as some people have said however it is a VACUUM! Seriously do any of you vacuum expecting silence? That is like complaining that your car is heavy. If your vacuum being "loud" is the worst of your problems then your life is far too pampered. Consumer Reports compared this vacuum to a ton of other models and this one came in third place, mainly because it was louder than the other models. The on board tools could be better (the hose is very short) however for a vacuum in this price range, I'm surprised and happy it even HAS on board tools. I have 2 dogs and a cat and was happily surprised how effortlessly it picks up hair. My lab's hair is like little pine needles that stab into everything and are typically very hard to vacuum. This hoover gets it all up in the first pass. With my old vacuum I used to have to go very slowly and make several passes to get every hair up... not anymore! This unit is a little bit heavier than some of the other models however for some reason it glides on the carpeting like it is self propelled. My old Oreck was only 8 pounds but was harder to push back and forth. This vacuum will be easy on your back as long as you are vacuuming on one level. If you have more than one level... just buy one for each level! At this price point who cares? It's been a long time since I felt like I truly got an outstanding product for an amazing price. In case you haven't noticed I highly recommend this vacuum.
