After purchasing 4 vacuums over 5 years, I finally decided that if I had to to replace yet another vacuum regardless of how much I spent on that vacuum every year or so...I would by something that easy on the pocketbook. I found the Hoover Widepath Tempo and my immediate impression was this was like the vacuums that were around when I was a kid. Straight forward, no glam.

Once at home my wife was as skeptical as I was, but since we had our last $200 vac sitting out at the curb beaten and humiliated, we figured it was worth a try. It was simple to put together, just attaching the handle basically and fired it up. W-O-W!!! This vacuum has such an impressive motor we could hardly believe it. The suction on this vacuum is as strong as shop-vac and the agitation pull can almost to the degree of a self-propelled the unit.
Do you like lines? I grew up with the geometric patterns on the carpet in every room. At 12 years old, you think it's ridiculous...but when you get older you think, hey it doesn't look like "Moms" kinda clean without the lines. This vacuum will do those "lines" so well you may find crop cirlces in your living room one day.
But the question is, will it do the job? Absolutely! I thought that this vacuum might actually damage the carpet at first. But when I saw the vast expanse of loop pile in our home gone from wasteland to a land of milk and honey, I knew that I was being way too easy on that carpet. All of my preceding vacuums were being politically correct with my carpet, and what it really needed was a vacuum that taught it respect.
Ease of use. What this vacuum has that most are moving away from is a bag. Everyone rants about the bag-less vacs with the plastic cup that you can conveniently dump in the garbage. This way you don't have to deal with a inconvenient bag that holds everything in it and place it in the garbage. Is this right?!?! How many of you have dumped this cup in the garbage only to come back later and toss something in and have that little mushroom cloud of dust shoot back at your face? It has happened to me and I don't see how this is sanitary at all! At least with the bag everything pretty much stays "in the bag". They are easy to replace and inexpensive. And you get the added bonus of not having to actually look at what the vacuum is actually picking up off your floor through a clear cup! Who wants to look at this stuff....I just want it gone!
I recommend this vacuum to anyone that is all about getting the job done. It's light on the wallet. It doesn't play around with carpet. It gives you a feeling of power and who doesn't want that? This is a vacuum that means business and you will not be disappointed.
