I bought this vacuum cleaner solely based on its reviews and its claim to be designed for pet hair. I have a long haired cat and a carpeted home, so I needed something that can lift off clumps of hair stuck on my stairs. While the cyclonic vacuum really does pick up more dirt than a regular vac, it is not ideal for pet hair.

The attachment has a brush tip that is designed to lift pet hair off upholstery. I think it pushes the pet hair around, but doesn't really suction it off.
The canister itself is great for sucking up more dirt than you can imagine, but emptying it out defeats the purpose of having a bagless vacuum. You see, to empty the canister, it is not enough to simply hold it over the garbage can, you actually have to stick your hand inside and unwedge all the clumps of pet hair. I use a stick or a wire hanger to get it out, but the process is still tedious and unsanitary. I wish I could simply hold the canister over the trash bin and have it easilyslide out.
UPDATE: I have now owned this vac for about a year. It has completely lost suction. It has also started to shut down after 15 minutes of use, requiring a 30 minute cool-down and restart. Hoover's support is of no use as even though it is still under warranty, their suggestion is that I drive to repair shops out of state. This is not worth my time, and its much cheaper to buy a new vac. I'm very disapointed with Hoover. I may have to spring for a Dyson.
