| jmjh02's Full Review: Marcus Pfister - Hopper: Book and Clip-On Doll |
Hopper by Marcus Pfister is the story of a young white hare, Hopper, and his mother. This book tells us the adventures they encounter during one winter's day. From Hopper's morning bath, to playing with his friend, searching for food, and returning home to bed, Hopper with his mother's help is being taught how to become more independent and fend for himself. Throughout this story, we see the world through Hopper's young eyes, and experience what a day in his life is like.
Hopper is a beautifully illustrated book. Each page has soft muted watercolor pictures that are very calming and lovely to look at. The words are written on only one page of each set of pages, sometimes right on the illustrations themselves. My copy of this book is paperback that I purchased from Scholastic Book Club.
My two children, ages 4 and 2, enjoy listening to this story and looking at each picture. My 4 year old son's favorite part is when Hopper encounters a moose and thinks it is a walking tree. I have also shared this story with first graders who also enjoyed it.
Hopper by Marcus Pfister is a great story to be read aloud to your children at bedtime or any time. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does.
