| mcmaster's Full Review: Hot Spot Split Shot |
The Hot Spot Split Shot sinkers are just like their original counter-part, the lead split shot sinkers. The only difference is that they have added some fluorescent paints to the sinkers. The new snazzy new series of sinkers are called Hot Spot Split Shot sinkers. I like them for bottom fishing with worms or night crawlers. I use the fluorescent orange split shot sinkers, when I am fishing for any kind of trout in a river or stream. The orange sinker resembles a Salmon or Steelhead egg. The trout may spot the bright egg before it smells or sees a worm. I'll also use the Orange when fishing for Salmon with cured roe. After they get close enough to observe the orange split shot sitting on the bottom, they be close enough to spot or smell the live bait or roe.
Ill also use the orange split shots with a rubber crawfish while fishing for Rainbow Trout. Ill use the green split shots, with a rubber salamander when I am fishing for Large Mouth Bass. You can come up with all sorts of new combinations to use with these new flashy sinkers. There are currently four colors offered in the Hot Spot Split Shot Series . I use the orange in rivers, the glow in salt water and the green and yellow in lakes. You can use them however you like. Id also use the glow split shot sinker for cat fishing.
► Glow
► Orange
► Green
► Chartreuse (yellow)
My final thoughts on Hot Spot Split Shot Sinkers
I know that these sinkers have helped me to catch more fish, I dont know about bigger though. The bright fluorescent colors are bound to entice more fish to come and see whats happening. I would recommend the Hot Spot Split Shot sinkers to any angler, at any level. Split shot sinkers have been a great sinker to fisherman for years. The sinker itself is nothing new. Someone just got the bright idea to make them fluorescent. It was a very simple idea but it was awesome and works great. I have always used split shot sinkers anyway.
I used them because if I wanted to switch from bait to a spinner, I could just take the sinkers off. These sinkers have two small handles on one side. When you want to take them off of the fishing line, you simply squeeze them together and they come off. These sinkers are very well constructed and I have never had any problems with them. I give the Hot Spot Split Shot Series five of five stars. I would recommend this line of sinkers to any angler at any level. Take your kids, your spouse or a friend camping or fishing, its always a lot of fun!
