I'm a photographer, which translates to "presentation is everything.
The hotel is located between 5th and 6th on 44th. I was taking a class at the ICP and the Millenium Broadway was booked already. I found this in Hotels.com for an excellent rate and thought I'd give it a try. I recommend going to the hotel website for photos, the place really looks that good in person. The chain is French, so there is a lot of B&W photos of France and the person checking me in was French as well. At 5:30 Friday the place was deserted. Not a soul, save staff. Perhaps that allowed me to talk myself into a room on an upper floor to get a view.
The room reminded me of a cruise cabin with more space. The largest beds available are queens, but as a single that was fine. The wall behind the bed had a spotlit abstract in the middle of honey stained bird's eye maple. Opposite is a full sized desk flanked by floor to ceiling cabinet closets all done in bird's eye as well. Just gorgeous.
The bath looks even better. Nicely sized relative to the room it boast two types of marble, chrome accessories, bath and walk-in shower. The towels are huge and absorbent, with a mirror framed by lights that give an effect removing ten years.
The only dings are a single sitting chair that is small and uncomfortable, the painting is head high when upright in bed, and the grim sin of no coffee maker. Room service is 24 hour though. I didn't take advantage of that, or the breakfast menu card that can be left out the previous evening. There were no prices and I didn't want to chance spending $20.00 for a muffin. That and being 6'6" with nowhere comfortable to sit are the only reason I will sample other hotels. Otherwise, this would be terrific.
